Take a Break - Closed patrol for Amber

With a yawn, Leopardclaw emerged from the warriors den after having a brief nap; the young tom had been quite busy as of late with his two apprentices, and a few moments of silence was becoming harder and harder to find. Stretching out, the spotted warrior gazed around the camp at the various cats who were relaxing or talking, but he was only looking for a certain calico she-cat. When he caught sight of her, a soft smile spread across his maw and he walked over to her, a purr rumbling in his throat. Resting his tail across her back, Leopardclaw settled down beside Lichenfang and licked her cheek lovingly before purring; "Hello there."

Lichenfang had been relaxing quietly under a patch of sunlight quietly a mouse in front of her She was eating on. She heard pawsteps approaching her and she blinked her moss green eyes and looked up seeing Leopardclaw and she purredas he settled beside her and locked her cheek lovingly. She returned the gesture licking his cheek purring"hello to you too"she mewed.

With a slight chuckle, the large golden tom settled down next to his mate, their fur brushing comfortingly. Smiling warmly, Leopardclaw noticed that she was eating a mouse, and suddenly he realized just how hungry he was. Turning to look behind them, he noticed that the fresh-kill pile was a bit low, and an idea formed in his mind. Shifting his gaze back to Lichenfang, he meowed; "When you're finished, do you want to go hunting?" While he waited for her to answer, he licked a paw and drew it over his left ear, only to wince slightly when he touched the tender tear that remained there. He was still trying to get used to having a good sized hole in his ear, but every time he noticed it he could only feel a surge of anger, directed both at himself and Rockthorn. I guess it's fair...I mangled his shoulder, he mangled my ear. We're even now....right?

Lichenfang blinked at the idea and smiled a little bit."sure"she mewed and nudged the mouse to him"here take some"she mewed quietly smiling some.

Leopardclaw's eyes widened, surprised for a second as the mouse was pushed toward him, but didn't hesitate. "Oh, thanks!" Tucking into the small meal, he could feel the hunger pangs quell enough to where he felt content. Finishing it off, the large golden tom rose to his paws and flicked his tail playfully, an unusual expression coming from him. Purring, he gazed down at Lichenfang and meowed; "Ready when you are."

She blinked and smiled some before she stood up slowly flicking her tail"alright"she mewed"I'm ready"

Nodding, Leopardclaw waited until his mate fell in beside him before leading the way out of camp, pushing through the bramble-edged entrance tunnel. Taking a deep breath, the tom relished the familiar scents of his home territory before glancing over at Lichenfang, a mischievous glimmer in his hazel eyes. Crouching down, he waggled his rump a bit before taking off at high speed through the undergrowth, purring all the way. As leaves and bushes whipped past him, he couldn't help the happy, exhilarated smile that over took his face. Though he was a ThunderClan cat at heart, Leopardclaw loved to run like a WindClan cat, and totally understood why those lithe cats adored their open territory so much. Soon enough, the spotted tom has to slow down and stop underneath a tall oak tree. Glancing back, he looked to make sure his mate had kept up okay.

Lichenfang smiled before she blinked when he took off. She watched him dash off and she blinked struggling to keep up. The she cat wasn't much of a runner compared to her mate she sometimes was compared to a riverclan cat. She caught up soon and let out a huff slowly as she tried to catch her breathe."didn't know you were going to run"she mewed.

Oops Sometimes Leopardclaw forgot that most cats weren't as adept - or enjoyed - running as he did, but he got a sharp reminder when Lichenfang came puffing into the clearing. Smiling apologetically, the warrior stepped forward and nuzzled his mate's cheek, purring a slightly amused "Sorry...." With a slight smirk, he bent closer to her ear and finished his statement; ...slowpoke." His voice teasing and affectionate, Leopardclaw danced back from the calico she-cat, preparing for her to 'retaliate' in some way.

She huffed slightly flicking her tail as she caught her breathe"so you still couldn't best me at swimming if you wanted to"she teased smiling some. She flicked her tail and took a step towards him swatting him playfully.

Leopardclaw laughed, taking a step back to avoid her swatting paw.  "Okay okay, you got me there."  Like running for himself, his mate seemed to always have had a natural affinity to water and swimming.  He had tried it once before while on a a patrol with her; needless to say it wasn't his proudest moment.  Smiling, the large tom meowed in a low tone; "Okay river cat, lets catch some prey."  Gazing around, Leopardclaw soon spotted a lone robin pecking at the moist ground nearby, probably looking for earthworms.  Narrowing his eyes, the warrior began to sneak up on his quarry, tail-tip flicking ever so slightly.  Now that it was new-leaf, there was a lot more prey running around than before, making it much easier to feed the clan. With a great pounce and a single clean swipe, the tom-cat took out the unsuspecting bird and turned back to Lichenfang, eyes shining as his prize hung from his jaws.

"Hey watch it or "She trailed off flicking her tail a teasing smile on her face"or you'll regret it"she mewed before she decided to go after a squirrel of which she caught the scent of. She saw it nibbling on an acorn at the foot of a tree and crouched moving forward on silent paws. She then leapt in a flash landing squarely on the squirrel where she nipped it killing in quickly and cleanly.

Leopardclaw watched as his mate made the clean catch, and waved his tail towards her, signaling his praise.  Already though, he had seen another creature scuffling in the nearby bushes; this one sounded much bigger than the robin thought.  Suddenly, to his surprise, a rabbit hopped out of the undergrowth, it's nose twitching as it's ears swiveled around cautiously. I have to be careful about this.... Stalking on lithe paws, the golden tom crept up on his prey until he was close enough to pounce. Sinking his claws into the rabbit's back, he quickly cut off it's surprised squeal with a bite to the jugular. Dragging it back over to where he had left the robin, Leopardclaw decided to rest for a minute before continuing his hunt.
