Despite the rather cheerful tone portrayed by the melodic birdsong and vibrant colors painted across the sky, a rather somber tone had fallen across RiverClan and its territories. With four kits missing, no cat had even taken the time to eat breakfast before setting out to search the territories thoroughly- of course, a simple explanation would be that the four kits had gotten up to some mischief. Perhaps they'd been plotting this for a moon- nobody could really say. Of course, that would certainly be the preferable outcome, as opposed to the things on most cats' minds- SkyClan, or predators.

Shimmerdust was at the front of the patrol for once. She sped along, bounding quickly. She honestly wouldn't have thought that she would have been this anxious to do anything, but she was. After all, she may not look like a caring cat, but she did care for the kits' safety with all her heart. She wasn't cold-hearted, okay? Besides, they were still her Mentor's kits, even if they didn't get the chance to get particularly close.

The thing Shimmerdust was the most scared about was if SkyClan was actually responsible. She knew that they weren't-at least, Willowpaw was a hundred percent not involved-but she wasn't sure she could put it past someone like Adderpaw to kidnap kits. But if it was them, what little sympathy SkyClan has with the other clans would disappear immediately...

Shimmerdust slowed down a little to make sure she didn't go too far ahead, and began observing the surroundings more carefully.
