Ratkit's Apprentice Ceremony

Crowstar jumped onto the tall branch and called out, "Let all cats old enough to climb a tree gather here for a clan meeting!"

Pansyface poked her head out of the warriors den at Crowstar's call, and sat down nearby. This must be a ceremony, and she knew that the only kits near apprentice age were Cherrymist's. The thought of her young cousins starting their path toward becoming warriors excited her, and she hoped that, for one of them, she could become their mentor. With a smile, she gazed around for the star cat and their parents.

Ratkit bounded out of the nursery with an excited smile. Her fur was groomed carefully by her mother who had roused her with the same vibrant excitement as hers. Ratkit almost felt a pang of indignation, thinking that Bear had already appointed them as what the Clan cats called 'apprentices', but she was willing to wait if it meant that one day everyone would see how strong she was.

Crowstar looked at Ratkit, "It is time for a kit to join the rank of the apprentices." The black leader spoke. "Ratkit from this moment on you will be known as Ratpaw. Cherrymist shall be your mentor." The black leader jumped down from his spot and ended the ceremony.

Ratpaw bounced around, as she heard the name of her mother, looking for her until she saw her misty white pelt approach. Her daughter had alwahs been fascinaged by her foggy eyes and almostwisned she had eyes so beautiful. But her mom was blind, blind from the moment she was born, and Ratpaw couldn't even begin to count how many things she had missed. She touched noses with her new mentor, proud rising in her throat as a purr when she felt their two noses touch gently.
