Rockpaw's Assessment [Closed]

Lionspark paced back and forth in front of the apprentice den, her mind weighing heavily as she mused over her choice. Things had not been looking up for Rockpaw - the tom was almost an outcast among his Clanmates for a rash, foolish option that he had taken in the middle of combat when he had ended that rogue queen's life. He had fallen into a state of despair and she questioned if he even thought he would ever become a warrior. She couldn't tell but she was set on making sure he got his warrior name. She didn't dare the same viewpoint of her Clanmates - she had heard his side of the story and while Rockpaw perhaps had acted wrong in killing that queen, he had also feared for his life...And well, Lionspark was known for rash options to if her two border fights were anything to go by. She cared for Rockpaw like any other of her Clanmates and her motherly instincts wanted to make her dart forward and try to clean our his fur even if he wasn't all that much younger then her despite still having his apprentice name. She had asked him to meet her without telling her what she had planned. If Rockpaw knew, she knew he would try to back out of it. But no, today he was having his assessment.

Rockpaw slunk out gloomily out of the apprentice's den, tail dragging across the ground as his paw skimmed the ground with each step. Padding up beside Lionspark he sat down with a thump. "What is it Lionspark? Can't I just do the things I want to do?" Rockpaw muttered, a frown etching his maw as he glumly looked up at the she-cat. He wouldn't even be looking up at the she-cat if he wasn't slouching, creaking joints shuddering as they functioned to get the tom to his paws and to the camp entrance as if knowing that his protesting would be futile.

Lionspark frowned softly as Rockpaw more or less dragged himself out of the apprentice den before sitting down next to her with a grumble. The warrior sighed as she shook her head. "No. You need to get out of the camp and do something productive," she said with a frown. She felt relieved however when Rockpaw pulled himself to his feet and padded forward. She followed after him, blocking any escape he perhaps thought of making back to the apprentice den. As she followed him into the territory, her tongue clicked thoughtfully against the roof of her mouth as she tried to think of how she would reveal that this was his assessment. Would she? She could always just ask him to hunt and more or less force him into completing his assessment even if he was unaware of it...

"But I am productive!" The apprentice scoffs, his tail giving a half-hearted lash before pushing through the barrier. The tom's eyes kept flickering behind him as he longed to be in his nest, but he pushed on, albeit reluctantly. Large ears that seemed to big for him flickered to Lionspark, his eyes narrowing as he looked at her with suspicion in his eyes. Side-stepping away from the she-cat, hesitation and uncertainty making him feel worse than before.

"You are not productive," Lionspark retorted as she brushed past him, leading him further into the territory. She glanced over her shoulder, eyeing his mattered, messy coat. "Look at yourself. You have been too busy wallowing in despair because of what happened that you aren't even taking care of yourself much less being productive." Deciding that this was the perfect place for the assessment to take place, she spun to face the tom with narrowed eyes. "You may not believe it, Rockpaw, but I care for you even if you think the rest of the Clan doesn't. And so I am going to help you...By making you help the Clan." She raised her head, a prideful glint in her eyes as she realized that her plot might work - she wouldn't even need to tell Rockpaw that it was his assessment. "I want you to catch four pieces of prey, alright? A good nature gesture to show the Clan that you are still a loyal member even if they don't like you. I won't let you rest or go back to the camp until you get those pieces. Once you do however..." she smiled softly at him, a mischievous glint behind it. "I suppose you are welcomed to go back to wallowing in your own fifth if you truly want to."

"I hunt all the time though! I don't really sleep at night anymore so I go hunting." The tom snorted, choking down all the hurtful things he wanted to say. Spitting in frustration Rockpaw glared at Lionspark. "What's the use of hunting for the clan if I don't even know if they'll not do anything for me? They'd all let me rot for all I know." Rockpaw lashed is tail, it fell to the ground to drag once more then picked up to hover over the leaves.

Plodding quickly through the undergrowth and hopefully leaving Lionspark behind, far far behind. Snuffling as he turned to look behind him, he turned to continue into the territory, ears swiveling as he crouched. Eyes picked out a pecking bird, his claws unsheathed as he slowly moved forwards, inch by inch. Then, he leaped.

Rockpaw's muscles never felt steadier in that moment as he snatched the bird in his claws, delivering a killing bite to the back of its head. Slumping back onto his behind with the bird in his jaws he huffed, getting to his paws he quickly buried it to move on to the next prey animal he could find.

Lionspark sighed softly as the tom snapped at her, wanting to tell him that she wouldn't let him rot - it was the whole reason she was doing this but he turned and stalked off before she could utter a single word. Her heart leaped slightly as she stood there, giving Rockpaw plenty of room before she followed after him on careful, quiet paws in order to make sure he truly was hunting. To her relief, he was. Hiding in the undergrowth, she watched as he located a bird and stalked it before leaping and killing it. Joy blossomed in her chest as she watched him bury it and move on. Perhaps Rockpaw just thought she was being a bother but she did truly care for the tom - which is why she was making him help himself even if he didn't realize it. She wouldn't let him rot, he deserved more then that. He deserved to be a warrior even if he didn't think so.

Rockpaw took a bit longer to find anything but when he did he wasn't happy to see what he had come across, a squirrel. Feeling dizzy with the memories flashing before his eyes as he pulled away, retching into the bushes next to him and thus scaring the squirrel away. The rogue queen had two squirrels in her jaws when he had followed her, regret and hate twisted his gut until he retched some more, spilling what little contents his stomach held. Having a bit of a lay down the tom took a moment to wait until the memories faded and the ill feeling in his gut faded away.

Opting for something a little more safer he kept an eye out for rodents and lizards, and finding exactly that. Eyes narrowed as he looked at the mouse, one ear pointed towards it and the other swiveling around for the presence of any other cat. Something irked in the back of his mind, but he made the leap for the mouse despite.

But instead of sinking his teeth into the mouse an owls talons ripped through his ears, giving a screech of pain the Thunderclan apprentice looked to the sky, almost immediately looking to the sky his green eyes flickering across the sky as he searched. The hoot of the owl behind him allowed him to locate it with a hiss.

The owl came in, talons as the ready, but the weak tom wasn't strong enough barely having the energy to move enough for it to get to his back instead of his neck. Giving a screech as the owl tore at his back Rockpaw spun around in fur, leaping into the air and forcibly ripping the owl from the sky.

The owl gave a screech as it was knocked to the ground, its wings pinned by it's large paws its talons scraped at the ground as it fought for freedom from the cat that had pinned it.

The owl used talon swoop on Rockpaw, dealing 10 damage and 10 stamina

Rockpaw used Leap and hold, dealing 6 damage and 10 stamina, stunning for 2 turns

Fear and worry flashed in Lionspark's stomach when she watched Rockpaw suddenly throw up at the sight of a squirrel. Her paws ached wanting to leap forward and make sure he was alright but forced herself to stay where she was, not wanting to reveal herself. She watched until he finally got to his paws and moved on, following with a frown. She missed the ear sqiveling - the slightly hint that he knew that she was there as she saw the owl swooping a second to late. Her eyes widen as she watched him bring down the owl but she knew he couldn't do it alone. And despite every part in her body telling her to stay where she was and not reveal that she had been watching him, she leaped from the undergrowth with a yowl. She landed not far from the apprentice and the bird, spinning on her paws as she lashed out with her backpaws, nailing the owl right in the head in an effort to help Rockpaw keep it under control.

Lionspark used Back Kick on the Owl, dealing 11 damage and costing 15 stamina.

Grunting at the owl as it writhed under him the apprentice shot Lionspark a glare, the owl that was a lot stronger than he ever though an owl would or could be writhed underneath his paws. Huffing Rockpaw ripped down it's wings and back, drawing more blood and feathers as he could. Leaping off the owl then onto it again for good measure he gave it a hefty blow to the base of it's wings, his breath hissing and wheezing as he tore.

The owl is still stunned, loosing no stamina but loosing 6 health, Rockpaw looses 10 stamina.

Lionspark didn't see the glare, far to invested in killing this owl then to pay attention to Rockpaw. When the grey apprentice jumped off, Lionspark saw the opportunity to deal damage. She slashed at the owl's underbelly with her claws before Rockpaw came bounding back onto the owl. They were lucky, she was sure with Rockpaw's tight grip on the owl that they could kill it easily before it could deal any real damage.

Lionspark uses Belly Rank and the owl, dealing 10 damage and costing 10 stamina.
