A Nerve-wracking, but Happy, Moment {Open Birth Topic}

Sandybreeze lay in the nursery once more, her white belly swollen with kits. She knew it would be any day now that they'd be born, and she couldn't be more nervous. No this wasn't her first litter, but it was her first litter after the death of her son Blazekit. The moment she had found out about her pregnancy, she was filled with worry. Much like she was with her first litter, but it seemed this was worse. She sighed anxiously as her mind raced through every possibility of something going wrong, and before long, she felt the tell-tale signs that it was time for her kits to be born. Now she was breathing heavily with worry that she'd fail these kits as a mother as she'd done Blazekit, but she knew she needed to calm down. She needed Beetlepaw. "Beetlepaw!" And Falconstone. "Falconstone! The kits are coming!" She yowled, voice laced with anxiety. She wasn't sure if Falconstone or Beetlepaw was in camp at the moment, but she prayed to StarClan that at least one of them was.

Beetlepaw picked up the call and, setting down his work, thundered to the nursery. He padded up to Sandybreeze, nosing the queen's swollen belly and givingnher a comforting lick on the ear. He gave her the stick he had brought and purred soothingly near her. "Push, Sandybreeze, just push."

Sandybreeze breathed a sigh of relief as soon as she saw Beetlepaw rush into the nursery and to her side. She winced in pain as the contractions made their way through her, and she nodded to Beetlepaw's instructions. She took a deep breath to calm herself again, and began to push.


A tired Sandybreeze lay curled around her tiny bundles of joy, all healthy and alive. She breathed a greatful, but tired, 'Thank you' to Beetlepaw for his help and encouragement. She looked down at her kits, a purr of happiness escaping her throat. Though Falconstone wasn't here, she felt like she should name them. Looking towards the ginger she-cat, a name suddenly popped into her head. "Burntkit.." She murmured, nosing the small kit. Her gaze swept over towards the creamy-colored she-cat. "Quietkit.." She meowed, giving her a gentle lick. Moving on to the third kit that was born, a gray and black tabby tom. "Runningkit.." She purred softly, nuzzling him. Now her blue-green gaze landed on the last, and smallest, kit of the litter. A tiny white she-cat. "And Owlkit.." She whispered lovingly, curling her tail tightly around all of her kits. "Welcome to the world little ones.." She meowed gently, her voice almost a whisper.

Runningkit tucked his body close to his mothers, his mews were soft as he spoke. Craving for more warmth he began to rub against any warm surface he could feel.

IC: Burntkit, hearing her new name, nuzzled closer to her mother. Her eyes hadn't yet opened, but everything felt so cold and harsh. She let out a loud, and indignant, squeak against the cold breeze she could feel clawing under her fairly thick fur.

She latched onto her mother, feeling a deep pit in her stomach which she would later come to know as hunger, and suckled, kneading her mother's fur with her claws. For now, she was content, and soon she drifted to sleep buried in her mother's pelt
