A Heart-Lift And A Concern (OPEN BIRTH TOPIC)

Cherrymist rested her head wgainst a clump of moss in her nest. Today she was feeling especially weak. She was keen on returning to the warriors' den and train with Pansypaw, her younger sister, patrol, but now she was... a queen? She and Tigerblaze were mayes now and she was so excited. But the blind she-cat had only one thing on her mind. Was she just bringing another broken soul into the world... just like her? She did not have time to ponder over that now, for a pang of pain racked her body, and she struggled to push, remembering what her mother had done at the birth of her second litter. She had to be strong for her kits.

*(time skip)*

Cherrymist nuzzled her only kit wrmly, bringing her closely to her belly. "Willowkit..." she whispered he name, so delicate and soft.

Tigerblaze burst into the nursery, his yellow eyes wide with adorable bewilderment and happiness and confusion. For most of the birth the striped tom had stayed outside, pacing anxiously, as Oceanlight and Rabbitpaw had done their work.

As Tiger glanced between his beloved mate and kit, his heart filled with…pride was not the word he was looking for. There was so much more inside him now.

"What…are you going to name her?" his mouth was dry, but he didn't care that there was only one kit; he loved her fiercer than he'd ever thought possible within only a few heartbeats of seeing her.

Willowkit mewed and started to suckle as she kneaded her mothers belly. Once she was done she curled up close to her mother feeling warmth. She mewed again hearing a strange yet familiar voice of her father.

Cherrymist nuzzled the kit as Tigerblaze stormed in, and she touched her nose to his affectionatrly before looking down at the kit. "I thought about Willowkit." she meowed with an exhausted voice.

Willowkit mewed at her mother curling up closer to her mother.

The large, muscular tom let out a deep purr, leaning down to rasp Cherrymist's cheek, and then the top of the newborn's head.

"It's a beautiful name," he began, and another deep, rumbling purr escaped him. "She's…perfect, Cherrymist."

He settled down beside his mate and kit, curled around them protectively and sighing. Could life get any better than this?

Willowkit mewed again. Willowkit curled up more into her mother and father.
