Snake Among the Trees (OPEN)

"No, but..." Viperpaw raised an eyebrow in thought. My father is Breezewhisker... and he's also Crowstar's son... Viperpaw's eyes widened, blazing with realization. "Hey, I think we're cousins!" Viperpaw exclaimed. She jumped up, paws touching her chest in a brief sitting position. Her hind legs made contact with the ground, paws settling. Her front paws then touched the ground, making her pads feel knitted. The snow was freezing. Viperpaw gasped with the shock, then shrugged.

Oh, cool!  Pansykit's eyes glowed as she purred happily.  It seemed to her that everywhere she turned in the clan, there was a family member!  It was really neat, and she loved meeting everyone.  Sitting back down, she continued to watch as the two warriors fought.  Fluffing out her short pelt the best she could, even that didn't stop her from shivering.

"You seem pretty cold," Viperpaw said, her sympathy peaking. She looked around for any warm objects. There was a patch of moss covered by a thin layer of snow, which she could easily brush off. She could also be a good older cousin, and warm Pansykit up by pressing against her. Of course, it was the she-kit's preference. "Do you want me to get that moss over there to warm you up?" Viperpaw asked Pansykit kindly.

Her teeth chattering, Pansypaw nodded her head yes for the moss. Maybe it would be just as warm as her nest in the nursery. For a brief moment she considered going back there, but soon waved away the thought. If I go back in Mama wouldn't let me go back out until the weather clears!
If there was one thing Pansykit hated more than the cold, it was being restricted.

Viperpaw walked over to the moss. It clung to the ground, but eventually, she tore it off. It made a muffled ripping sound, and shook some of the snow off with just the first action. She brushed the rest off with her forepaw. She laid it face-down on Pansykit's pelt. "There," she said, recognizing that Pansykit didn't seem to like to be restricted. "That should be better!" Viperpaw felt rather proud of herself for aiding the young kit. Her eyes reflected the color of the moss - a beautiful green.

"Thanks Viperpaw!"  The moss, though not as warm as her nest, definitely made a big difference.  Looking up, she met her cousin's mossy green gaze that was a lot like her own.  Pansykit's eyes though had more streaks of brown and lighter green, giving them the appearance of murky water.  Purring, the she-kit laid her head on her paws and tried her best to stay awake.  The cold first, and now the warmth had zapped her energy away.

Viperpaw laughed with amusement. She had her own, custom blanket - and all she had to do was thank nature! She rested beside her cousin, yawning.
