Otter leaps over the Shattered pools [Closed]

Sitting outside just outside of camp, Otterleap waited lazily for his apprentice while he enjoyed the slight chill of the winter winds that cut through his thick pelt. Everything in his life was in order, RiverClan reigned supreme of WindClan, there was no trouble with ThunderClan and he had the joy of having Shellwater as his mate. There was nothing that could ruin the tom's mood, which was good for Shatteredpaw as he could be a rather picky mentor.

Otterleap was a bit of a perfectionist, which many didn't like about him. It had always put him at odds with Sleetfang, and that's just how it was meant to be. He hoped that he would work well with his apprentice, Shatteredpaw seemed quite mild-mannered. Either way, he'd find out soon when Shatteredpaw came.

"Seems a good day for stalking rabbits."

Shatteredpaw padded out of the apprentices den, stretching midway. He took a glance towards the camp's entrance and quickly noticed his mentor, Otterleap, waiting nearby. The apprentice put on a light smile, and approached the older tom.

"Hello, Otterleap." He mewed, grabbing the attention of his mentor.

"Ready to go for a hunt? If we're quick, I might be able to squeeze in a battle training session. I saw you eyeing up Petalbreeze, maybe you can show off your new moves to her." Otterleap joked easily, Petalbreeze was a sweet cat but not that social, it was kinda obvious when she finally started to open up to some cat. Also, nothing stayed private in a clan, everything was out in the open within seconds. Like how everyone knew he was with Shellwater now.

Shatteredpaw stopped at Otterleap's side, "battle training sounds great!" He said, attempting to contain his small burst of excitement. Then, at the mention of Petalbreeze, he felt his face heat up a bit, but was glad to hear the light-heartedness in his mentors voice. He couldn't help but offer a goofy smirk. "Yeah, that sounds good too, she loves hearing about my training."

"I bet she does." He purred, before twitching his whiskers when he felt movement in the air. It was a frog, sitting by the water, it looked sluggish and dying in the cold. It seemed like an easy catch, though whether it would be was a different question. "How about you try catch him?" Otterleap gestured with his tail at the frog.

Shatteredpaw followed his mentors gaze toward the unsuspecting frog, it didn't look too great, but it was prey nonetheless. He stole a glance at his mentor, nodded slightly, then quietly began to move forward. He crept around one side, keeping light on his paws.

He had hunted prey before, but now that his mentor was watching, he flight slightly nervous. Yet, he shook away the feeling, and once he was close enough to pounce, he did just that. With claws outstretched he planted his paws down on the cold, almost slimy texture of his prey. He didn't waste another heartbeat to reach down and offer a killing bite.
