Swiftpaw's Warrior Ceremony

"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the willow branch for a Clan meeting!" Ivyfall shouted, her voice ringing through out the clearing as she called the clan together for a warrior ceremony. Fishstar's eldest kit, Swiftpaw was finally ready for her ceremony, or perhaps a better way of putting it was that the ceremony was finally ready for her. Swiftpaw's apprenticeship had been a long one, filled with tragic deaths of mentors, but Ivyfall was proud to see her finally becoming a warrior.

It was a long time coming.

Swiftpaw wasn't aware her warrior ceremony was about to happen, it was such a long time, doing apprentice jobs. She wanted to do tasks, not chores. She wanted to spend more time hunting, patroling, maybe even training an apprentice of her own. Palefrost was gone, and a new mentor was never appointed for her. She went into the clearing and sat down.

"Swiftpaw, please step forward." The deputy said warmly, looking down at the nearly warrior sized apprentice who looked as ready as she'd ever be.

Swiftpaw's icy blue eyes lit up in surprise and delight, then they looked like ice with sunlight reflecting off of it. She hesitated, then stepped forward. She waited so long for this. So many moons fetching moss and getting ticks out of pelts. She can finally be taken seriously, as a loyal warrior, not as some everyday apprentice with no mentor.

"I, Ivyfall, deputy of RiverClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. She has trained hard to learn the ways of your noble code, and I commend her to you as a warrior in turn. Swiftpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code, and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?" She was sure of the apprentice's answer, but it was a question that needed to be asked anyway. Countless of other apprentices before her had to answer the same, embracing the burden that was the code.

IC: Swiftpaw looked up at Ivyfall. She was so excited. "Yes, I do!" she answered proudly.

"Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. Swiftpaw, from this day forth you shall be known as Swiftheart. RiverClan honours your patience and your dedication to our clan." Ivyfall finished the ceremony, looking up at the Stars as she spoke before looking down at the newly named Swiftheart.
