The Sedge and The Squirrel

Sedgepaw laughed with her, he titled his head as she was about to ask something "Ya?" he wondered what the she-cat would ask.

"I think I like you.." she mewed with the utmost confidence as she usually did.

Sedgepaw stared at Squirrelpaw for a moment "I-I was going to say the same...." he mewed awkwardly, the two seemed to be opposites but they worked together just fine. He broke out into a laugh as the two felt the same.

Squirrelpaw started laughing as well. This will be great! I will love to Starclan and back! she thought as she went back to grooming Sedgepaw.

Sedgepaw purred (much purr), he liked Squirrelpaw grooming him. He returned the favor by beginning to groom her "So, what are you up for? A game of hide-and-seek?" he asked.

"Sure! That works! Do you want to hide first?" she replied.

"Sure! I love hiding!" he chirped happily, running off to hide. He found a fern that was almost dead in the barn somewhere dark, he hid there and rubbed himself against nearby hay to cover himself.

Squirrelpaw turned around and closed her eyes as Sedgepaw hid himself. After she supposed he had enough time, she turned back around and jumped off of the hay stack. He wouldn't stay so close to where he started... she assumed. Squirrelpaw closed her eyes and opened her mouth to pick up on Sedgepaw's scent. She picked it up and followed it to a side of a different hay stack on the other side of the barn. It looked as if someone had done something to it. It must have been Sedgepaw... she thought. She scented the air again and found that there was a small trace of his scent in a pile of dead ferns in the darkest corner of the barn. Easy! Squirrelpaw thought. She went into a crouch and stalked up to the pile before puncing on to it and feeling fur under her paws. "Got'cha!!" she yowled as she fell onto the tom. As she got off of the tom she asked, "Hey, can I hide now?".

Sedgepaw flipped up to the wall, hitting his head "Ow!" he meowed "Ok fine" he purred closing his eyes.

"K, give me a sec!" she mewed excitedly. Im gonna hide better than Sedgepaw! she thought. Squirrelpaw turned and ran out of the barn. She turned back and looked at the barn. The dark rotten red walls of the barn was actually a very similar color to her pelt. That would be helpful, but Sedgepaw would scent her easily. She looked around and found a dirt mound. She rolled in it, letting it cover her scent. Squirrelpaw then ran back up to the barn and laid up against a side of the barn that was heavily covered with foliage. Sedgepaw will never find me! she thought confidently.

Sedgepaw had a very good scent like his father, he sniffed around. Tracking down Squirrelpaw's scent, he tried to make his paw steps quiet. He stared at the place Squirrelpaw was, he didn't see her but knew she was there. Hmm... he thought What should I do to surprise her? he asked himself Ah! he knew what to do. He sneaked up near the shadows, quietly he leaped up and pinned her down, then rolling over and smiling "Got you" he purred.

"Oh! I thought I could fool you!" she mewed with a playful exasperated sigh.

Sedgepaw chuckled "You almost did" he mewed happily.
