The first patrol [Open]

Thinstripe was going to be taking Featherpaw out on a small patrol, she figured it would help get more warriors and have apprentices be trained as if they actually were before they were driven out. She looked around for Featherpaw, it was noon and no one had gone a patrol "Featherpaw, were going to be on a patrol today. Others can join as well if they need to" she mewed looking at Featherpaw hoping she wasn't asleep and could hear her.

"I can come in case you encounter a badger or something" Tulippaw said

Thinstripe nodded "Ok, lets wait for some other apprentices. Maybe some warriors if their interested" she suggested.

OOC: btw so u know, Feather went mad after TC was driven out and things like this to get her closer to other cats are going to heal her over time

Featherpaw, who had in fact been sleeping, leapt to her feet and raced quickly over to Thinstripe. Have I really been asleep that long? she asked herself guiltily. "Here I am, Thinstripe!" she meowed cheerfully as she approached. "Where are we going to patrol?" Her gaze darkened as she realized they might be going to twolegplace. Not back to twolegplace. I'm never going back.

"Mind if I come?" Frozenflame asked as he padded up next to Thinstripe. His gaze rested on Featherpaw and something seemed a bit...off. Was that a crazed look in her eye? Or was it just adrenaline? Maybe it was the excited look all apprentices got when they were about to do something helpful? But what if it was more than that? He decided he would have to keep an extra thorough watch on her from now on.

"I'll come along, I guess, if you need me," he mewed at his mother. He trotted beside her and nudged her shoulder affectionately. With everything going on, the last thing he wanted was to lose touch with his mother. He felt almost ashamed that he hadn't been around her much since they lost their home.

Thinstripe had a good amount of cats now, she nodded and quickly nuzzled Scorchpaw "I think we should get going now, were wasting sunlight" she mewed as she began to lead the way "Were just going to be hunting" she announced.

"Hi Frozenflame!" Featherpaw mewed to her father, forcing her tone to be lighter as she pulled herself back to the present. "So where are we going to hunt?" she asked, hoping to start as quickly as she could. Maybe she could lose herself in the hunting, maybe she could just lose herself and forget... She couldn't quite suppress a shudder, despite the warm greenleaf sunlight beaming down on the cats.

Thinstripe nodded "Yes" she mewed as she tasted the air, flicking her tail she tried to search for her prey.

Featherpaw drew a deep breath of fresh air as she padded after Thinstripe. Mmm, sparrows, she thought to herself. Maybe they'd be pecking around under some bushes somewhere. She wandered off, muttering to herself. Bushy, bushy. Bushy as a bee. Featherpaw paused to consider this for a moment. Hmmm... Bees aren't too bushy, she decided after a while. She gave a mental shrug before continuing forward. Bushy, bushy. Bushy as the soft fur of a cat's pelt. Featherpaw frowned and her ear twitched. A bushy, bushy pelt, scattered across the black path... she shook herself as hard as she could and tried to push the memories away. "Sparrows, gotta get a sparrow," she muttered desperately.

Thinstripe's ears pricked up as a rabbit hoped passed her into the long grass, she eyed it and grounded down. Stalking it quietly she pinned it down with her unsheathed claw almost killing it, she finished it off easily but biting it. She dug a small but deep hole, she looked at the group of cats "We could fit one more catch in there" she mewed calmly.

Scorchpaw trotted off on his on, catching a whiff of... a rabbit? Can I even catch that thing? He locked his eyes on the large-eared animal. It would hear him long before Scorchpaw had a chance to pounce. He gave chase as soon as he could as the animal barreled down the field. He leaped at it with short breath, gripping it with his claws. He tried to hold on, but the potential prey sped away. He swore under his breath and trotted back to Thinstripe. "I almost had that StarClan forsaken thing, you saw that, right?!" he huffed angrily.

Thinstripe purred "Ya" she mewed with a grin.

OOC: Maybe we should wait for Berry?

IC: Frozenflame nodded in greeting to the others who joined, then followed Thinstripe out of camp. He padded next to her, but let her lead the way. "Greetings, Featherpaw," Frozenflame replied back to his daughter, wiping the suspicion out of his voice. The deputy's ear twitched as the apprentice mumbled something about a sparrow. "What was that, Featherpaw?" he asked casually with a half smile on his muzzle. The tom got distracted as Thinstripe caught a rabbit, then Frozenflame decided to forget about his daughter and do something productive for the clan. Quickly, he sniffed the air and easily located a vole near a bush. Dropping into a crouch, the grey and ginger cat crawled forward and waited for the perfect moment, then pounced and swiftly killed the vole with a bite to its neck.
