Maple's Lily (closed for Grizzly, Thin, Winterpaw)

Mapledrop lay in the nursery her belly swollen. She felt a sharp kick and hissed. "Winterpaw!! The kits!!" The dark red she cat yowled. She gritted her teeth and grabbed a nearby stick.

Oceanpaw ran over to Mapledrop. She had different herbs in her mouth. Borage leaves for milk, chervil for pain, and raspberry leaves for blood loss. She put down the herbs.  "Chew and drink the juice from this, then chew on this." she said, pushing forward the chervil, then the raspberry leaves.

Jaypaw heard his 'mothers' cry and rushed into the nursery behind Oceanpaw "Can I help with anything?"

Mapledrop nodded glad to have a friend and fellow clan mate to help. The dark red tabby pushed and a ginger she cat was born (Marigoldkit) and she pushed again and another she cat was born(sorry forgot what she looks like(Lilykit.)) But something was wrong there was just to much blood, Mapledrop knew she was dying so she turned to Oceanpaw. "Jaypaw.. I.." And with that Mapledrop's head slowly dropped and she was dead.

Jaypaw shook his head and rushed to Mapledrop "Mapledrop!" he mewed, a small tear went down his face. Mapledrop was the cat who had adopted him, she was gone now "No..." he nuzzled her face and closed his eyes, she was dead...

He looked over to the kits happily "Two she-kits?" he asked in surprise "I'm a big brother!" he licked his sisters "What do you think she would name them?" he asked Oceanpaw "you ought' to know, I'm sure your great at picking names" he added.

The red and white tabby squealed as the cold air touched her wet fur. She squirmed around like a worm dug up from the ground and tried to find her mother, all while still squeaking and making plenty of noise. She quieted down a bit as she felt Jaypaw's rough tongue, but was still searching for the source of this milky scent. Eventually she found her mother's belly and began suckling. Little did she notice the warmth was fading from the she cat's body, and her life was already gone. For now at least, the she kit suckled, still innocent and free of worry.

Jaypaw sighed and laid down next to both of his new sisters, curling his tail around them to give warmth.but not milk as Jaypaw was not a she-cat.

Jaypaw had picked out two of his favorite names, two pretty names for them "I have names" he began "How about for this one" he pressed his cold but still warm muzzle on the red and white tabby "Marigoldkit and...." he pressed his muzzle on the other kit "Lilykit for this one" he announced "I'm Jaypaw" he meowed "You big brother" he added "Do you like your names?" of course they wouldn't respond, they were kits. Jaypaw couldn't wait till the next time he'll see Gentlepaw and say that he was a bigger brother.

Marigoldkit purred quietly and pressed herself against Jaypaw, letting out a small, high pitched yawn. Before long, she had fallen asleep.

It was obvious Lilykit was a special kitten. Her huge eyes and ears made her look like a little cream-colored bobble head as she snuggled up to Jaypaw. She felt right at home in his fur. She was a little peckish, but she figured food could wait as she made a bond with the tom. She knew she was safe with him, and even though her eyes and ears were closed she knew she didn't have to worry.

Oceanpaw flattened her ears, looking at Mapledrop. Her eyes trailed to the herbs. A tiny tear hit them.She sat down, and the turned to Jaypaw and the two kits. She did wonder who would take care of them, but they looked fine bonding with their older brother.

Jaypaw turned over to Oceanpaw again "They could live off the milk right now, when it's gone..." he trailed off "They might be able to eat kill by that time, maybe..." he turned to the kits "I hope they'll be ok" he added quietly.

Marigoldkit fidgeted in her sleep, her breathing picking up. She let out a soft whimper, then settled back down again. Her first dream was an exciting one.
