Whistles and Wishful Thinking in the Canopies (Closed for Thinny Thin-Thin)

Blacktwig had lead himself into Fourtrees once more, his curiosity unbounded. He seeked Emberpaw, his true love and future mate, yet uncertainty made his insides twist with each step. A new feeling hung in the air, dry and terrible. It caused distaste on Blacktwig's tongue, however, he believed it was simply the early Leaf-fall air. He searched for that soft, lush calico pelt. He crushed friable leaves beneath his pads, causing a small yawn to escape his jaws. It was late, and he assumed their secret rendezvous would not last long.

As leaves fell upon his pelt, with the dim light of the stars illuminating them as such; hues of bright yellows, greens, reds; it gave him a brand new light, that could make or break his own fate.

Emberpaw looked through Fourtrees, she had been looking for prey and turning her head every once and a while for her future mate. She was still thinking of why, why did it need to be so complicated. Its not like everything made sense anyways, she always wondered why it was so complicated, love. She shook out the thought and focused more on Blacktwig, the night sky beamed through her eyes and shining shimmers reflected, it always felt so joyful at Fourtrees, even though it wasn't.

Blacktwig saw the light of Emberpaw's beautiful amber gaze weave through the trees. He padded over, somewhat nervously. "Emberpaw, we need to talk," he began, echoing the calico she-cat's doubtful thoughts in his own words.

Emberpaw looked up quickly "Uh, yeah. Yeah anything" she mewed, she wanted to say something too but she knew it wouldn't come out of her mouth if she even tried to say it. She looked at Blacktwig and settled quickly "What is it?" she asked.

Blacktwig gaze was bleak as he spoke, words coming out as slowly and painfully as if a skeleton was caught in his throat. He loved Emberpaw. But it was too hard. "Emberpaw, we're from different clans," he began softly. He didn't want to say it, it would hurt him. It would hurt Emberpaw. But he needed to. He resumed carefully, words picking their way uncomfortably out of his maw. "I don't know if we can do this - I love you, Emberpaw, I'm just so confused," he admitted, head hanging.

Emberpaw's eyes gleamed once more as tears filled them, dropping down "I- but Blacktwig, were already...Were having kits" she mewed "But when I become a warrior they come, I'm sure..." she mewed.

"W-We are?" Blacktwig questioned, more like exclaimed, into the night. He was overwhelmed with two senses, joy and surprise. Combined, it made for an emotion very strong. He pressed up against Emberpaw, both giddy, happy and shocked. "Oh, Emberpaw," he breathed, not sure what he should say next.
