Mother and Daughter Time {Closed}

A dark pelted apprentice sat eagerly at the entrance of camp. Her white tipped tail flickered with excitement. The she-cat hadn't gone on any kind of patrol with the medicine cat yet, and looked forward to showing off her hunting skills with Dawnflower. Surely she would be impressed with her growth as an apprentice? A purr escaped her as the entrance to the medicine cat den flickered.

Danwflower was excited to go on this little hunting trip with Nightpaw. Being a Medicine cat she never really got the chance to go on these things, and now she was able to since she adopted Nightpaw, and her, what she could consider a daughter, wanted her to go with her on a hunting trip. The pale colored cat pulled herself free from her medicine den, and quickly walked over to Nightpaw. She gave off a purr. "Are you ready to go?" She asked. She wanted to make sure first before they ran off.

Nightpaw nodded enthusiastically, her blue eyes practically shining with excitement. "Follow me!" the she-cat called over her shoulder. With chest puffed out, she lead her mother outside of the camp. As soon as they were farther away from camp, Nightpaw slowed to a walk. Her mouth parted slightly to take in the scents around her. Newleaf was here, and prey as slowly becoming more and more plentiful. As that was when she was a kit, there wasn't nearly as much food on the freshkill pile as there was recently.

A fresh scent of frog made her halt, her ears rotated in the direction in which it came from. The apprentice gave the medicine cat a glance. Could she spot the creature in the marshy vegetation? Nightpaw's eyes couldn't pick it up.

Dawnflower let out a small chuckle and followed after the smaller cat. A slight perkiness was apparent in her steps. For once she wasn't isolated in that lonely den, for once she didn't have to be separate from her clan. Even this trip would only last for a short while she felt like a normal warrior, and not a medicine cat. She loved being medicine cat, and wouldn't have it any other way.

The medicine cat stopped when Nightpaw stopped. She wasn't quite sure why she had stopped but then she smelt it. It was a frog. She wasn't good with hunting, and she had never done it that much, she probably had less skill than Nightpaw, but she would try to help where she could. Her pale green eyes scanned the area but she didn't spot anything. She could pick out a herb a good distance away, most warriors couldn't do that, but most warriors could pick out a piece of prey quite easily. She lowered her head, and spoke in a whisper. "Do you know where it is?" She asked, hoping her daughter knew.

The cat shook her head, blue eyes not leaving the marsh in front of her. She knew it was there, now where was it? A flicker at the edge of her vision allowed the young cat to lock her eyes on the prey. "Got it!" Immediately she took off after it, paws pattering against the wet ground of their territory. With a push of her hind legs Nightpaw landed on the frog. Her paws landing right in front of it. In order to escape the cat, the frog leaped away, it's hind legs slapping the apprentice in the nose.

Bewildered, Nightpaw landed on her rump. The apprentice blinked once, twice, then three times before she realized what had happened. Immediately she took off after the frog once again. It hadn't gotten very far, and the cat was able to kill it with a swift bite. With as much dignity as she could muster, Nightpaw brought the frog back to her mother. Her fluffy tail held high.

"Good job Nightpaw!" She had managed to catch it and that was all that mattered right? It was a bit sloppy at the start, but she recovered. "I'm not the one that should be giving this kind of advice, but maybe next maybe try to land on it with your paws instead of trying to prevent it's escape?" She suggested with a slight tilt in her head. She didn't really understand how this worked that well. "What did your mentor tell you?" She asked hoping the apprentice would answer that question and find a solution in that answer.

The younger cat tilted her head as her mother spoke. "I didn't jumf high enouff-" She responded through her fresh-kill. Gingerly placing the frog down in order not to break the fragile skin of the animal, Nightpaw lifted her head to Dawnflower. "Well, I shouldn't let them hear me." She mewed, nose flaring as she kept an eye out for any more frogs. Although, more than likely she had scared away all the prey in the area with her noise.
