What to do, What to do... [Open]

Dawnflower was sitting in her den sorting through herbs. She already had a stack that was either dried up, or in the process of doing so. She had so little good herbs left, she would surely need to go out and get more. There was an odd leaf here and there, but nothing that caught her attention to be concerned. Random plant ended up in the store occasionally. She hadn't seen much of Silverfern lately.. It seemed her apprentice was acting a bit weird about something.. The pale colored cat hoped that her apprentice wasn't off seeing someone in a forbidden relationship.. Their duty came to their clan first..

The older medicine cat shook her head, and pushed the thoughts aside. No. Starclan sent her signs about Silverfern for a reason. Her apprentice wouldn't betray her would she? Thrushstar probably couldn't take another betrayal, it would b even worse coming from a medicine cat. She picked up the dead herbs, and pushed her way out of the den. She quickly discarded the dead herbs, and returned to the front of her den only to sit down and maul over thoughts once again.

"Dawnflower?" Silverfern asked, leaning against the side of the den. Her silver pelt bristled and was a bit dirty, for she had just returned from her little 'escape'. Her paws were shaking from the cold and the night air bit her fur. "I need to speak with you... And, I'm back from my... Thing." She said a bit too brashly.

Danwflower perked at the sound of er apprentice's voice, she looked over to where her apprentice was resting. "Silverfern? Are you alright?" The older medicine cat stood from her spot and walked over to her apprentice, her expression full of concern. "Do you need anything first of all?" Whatever Silverfern had to talk to her about could wait. She had to make sure her apprentice was alright, this was her top most priority right now even though Silverfern had all the training she had.

"W-What? Oh, I'm fine. Just kinda dirty and sore." She explained, looking away. She shuffled on her paws. Am I really telling her this? I don't think this is a good idea. No, no. You have to. No one will truly forgive you, but you have to let them know.

Dawnflower sat back, and tilted her head slightly. Something was going on.. and whatever it was, it was bothering Silverfern a lot. She could feel a tightness start to form in her chest. Was her fear true? "What is it Silverfern?" She asked, concern still showing in her expression. "What do you need to talk to me about?" The medicine cat wrapped her tail around her paws tightly, to had the slight movement in them from anxiousness.

"I... Well. I need to speak with you about Mantiskit and Antpaw." She explained, with a sigh. Dawnflower knew of them, most definitely- they died only three moons ago.

This only confused Dawnflower more. The two younger cats died a few moons ago, why was she bringing them up now? "What about them?" She asked, in a slightly softer voice. She was trying to keep a wrap on her anxiousness.

"I... I found out the better reasoning for their deaths. I'm sure it was confusing to see two cats so young, so fragile dead in the camp. But... I know why. And it wasn't because of simple, fast-growing infection." She explained sadly, trying to get Dawnflower to understand. She was sure her mentor would understand, right?

It was odd that the two young cats infection grew as fast as it did, but Dawnflower only had assumed that they hadn't gotten to the infection in time. Was Silverfern trying to imply that she had a part in their death. "What are you trying to say Silverfern? What happened to them?" She asked, the tightness in her chest only getting tighter.

"I... Well. I'd been experimenting with plants- combinations with planting. Successfully, blackberry and dandelions were planted together, and one plant had them combined into one. I used the plant's pulp to treat their bee sting infections, but... I didn't know. I didn't know it was actually a poison. And it grew so fast and infected really bad, and... They died before I could stop it." She said, looking away. Tears had pricked her eyes- she always was a cry baby. "I can't believe it. And I'm so scared, Dawnflower. That if too many people know, Thrushstar will exile me... Or worse." She explained coldly, but her voice broke and she started to cry.

Dawnflower didn't know what to say. She was still trying to process this.. So she tried a plants combination to see if she could come up with more remedies, but it turned out to be a poison.. Dawnflower looked away from her apprentice for a moment trying to muster up a response.. Well a proper response. After a moment the medicine cat spoke. "Well... what you did isn't something that can be taken lightly... You should have told me, I might have been able to counter act the poison.." This.. she didn't really know what to think of this. "But you had good intentions in your mind, so I can't really be to.. disappointed.. mad.. I don't know which word to use.." Starclan told them of the herbs they had now for a reason.. if there was something else that could help wouldn't Starclan have helped them?

"I... You were out of camp when it started, but I know I should've gotten you. I know, I'm responsible, but- I... I suppose I did. Do you think Starclan forgives me?" She whimpered out, speaking too fast for herself. She rubbed her eyes with her paw, trying to clear herself.

Dawnflower let out a sigh. She didn't quite know how to respond to that. She wasn't Starclan. "I'm pretty sure they will, knowing you had the best intentions in mind." The older medicine cat said. "You can speak with them the next time we go to the moonstone." She offered. "Or perhaps they will speak to you in your dreams. But for now I think it would be best if you get some rest. You look like you need it."

"Thank you, Dawnflower..." Silverfern said, exasperated as she contemplated what she'd done. That was something she needed to stop by now. The young she-cat went to rest and hopefully see Starclan in her dreams.
