Mother, son time (closed)

Mapledrop padded into the apprentices den where she heard her only son to become an apprentice was, his sister's died leaving him the only one to live. "Elkpaw my dear? Come and take a well deserved break and come hunt with your mother dear." The dark red she cat with darker red stripes and a warm liquid gaze meowed to her only kit left. She and her son hadn't had time to hang out since she had her second litter of kits, and she also wanted to talk to her son about something important.

Elkpaw groaned at the fact that he woke up, he figured it was to go one patrol or do battle training. But when he saw his mother, Mapledrop, standing in the entrance, he relaxed knowing that this time it would be a bit less serious of matters. Hopefully.

"Okay, just give me minute to wake up." he replied, still tired from his midnight walk the previous night. He started to stand up and stretch, arching his back and extending his claws. Once he was finished waking up he padded over to his mother and asked "How long do you think we will be out? I have to help around the camp later today." he said.

"Oh not to long, but I thought we could hang out later today, but if you want ill help you around the camp so it doesn't take to long." Mapledrop purred flicking her son gently with her tail. "So you know why your father Finchtail hasn't been around lately?" She meowed going to tell him some of the truth but not all of it.

He's been gone? He had been so focused on pleasing Snowstorm with his training and other important matters, that he didn't really notice. But he didn't want to seem uncaring towards his family, so he pretended to notice. "Yeah, I was wondering where he had been. Is he out on a important warrior mission?". He was quite close to his father and hoped nothing happened to him.

"Well you see Finchtail has been missing for quite a while now, it happened after my second litter, but he will be back one day I'm sure of it. Now I saw you leaving camp last night and that wasn't uncommon but when you came back home you were all wet. Wanna tell me what happened?" Mapledrop meowed as they padded through the sunlit territory.

I was hoping she would forget! Oh, I'll just make something up! "Well, last night I decided to head down towards Thunderclan border, cause no-one had been down there in a little while, and I enjoy that part of the territory. When I was down there I did average things, y'a know sit, walk, listen. But as I was walking down by the shallow part of the river bed, I decided to dip my paws in the water, not too much, just a bit. But when I did I slipped on a muddy rock and fell into the water." he replied stifling a fake amused purr. "Then I was cold and was going to go on patrol today, so I decided to head back to camp.". He technically told the truth, for he did get wet in the river, just for a different reason. I hope she believes it! "That's why I was wet when I got back to camp."

"I believe you. But I have another important thing thing. My original clan was Thunderclan, but I'm half Thunderclan and half Skyclan, because of my great grandmother Softsong. Don't take it to hard though son I know being half Thunderclan half Skyclan is tpugh, I really wish that I was born in Skyclan as full Skyclan cat." Mapledrop meowed.

"Oh" Elkpaw replied mind filling with thought. That would make me one fourth Thunderclan. Im one fourth Thunderclan?! I would've thought I would be part Riverclan because we've been staying with them for so long. Wait! Cobraeyes is Thunderclan! Is she part Skyclan? No, I doubt it. I wonder what would happen if I was born in Thunderclan? Oh, I'll never be able to keep my anxiety in check now! "Maybe that's why I enjoy the border near Thunderclan." He said trying to stay enthusiastic, ignoring his anxious and curious thoughts. "Wait, you said you were originally in Thunderclan. Why did you leave?" he asked curiously. Well she is my mother, and this does relate to me, so I deserve to know the truth in why.

"Well my father, uncle, and my adopted sister went missing and there were so many deaths that I couldn't take it, and I asked Breezestar if I could join and he was fine with that, because of my great grandmother, Softsong. I met your father one night at fourtrees and we fell in love. One time I even snuck out of camp and crossed the border and we spent the whole afternoon together, before he walked me back to the border. Before my father or uncle or adopted sister could come back I ran away and joined up to be with my beloved Finchpaw. We had one battle and then we both came warriors, and a few days later and a week before I was pregnant with you and Mistykit and Littlekit, we had two battles one with Thunderclan and the other with Windclan, who drove us out and led us to Riverclan's territory. I adopted Hazelpaw since her mother had died at birth and thankfully I was still pregnant with you and was able to raise her as my own. My sister had eight kits, and she adopted one, Dreampaw the medicine cat apprentice. Elkpaw if there's anything you want to talk about anything at all you can talk to me about it I'm here for you, I am your mother after all. And if you were at Thunderclan's border for a different reason then I'm fine with that to." Mapledrop meowed winking at her son at the last sentence, knowing full well he probably meet a she cat and had not only fallen in the river accidentally, but probably did it to get rid of the scent. Yep he was her son alright, thats something she would do. He sure was one smart cat probably got it from his father.

"Okay, but I was telling the truth! I did fall into the water!" he replied. Yeah, I met a She-Cat, but it was an accident! And yes I do consider us friends, but nothing more, right? Right? She a Thunderclan cat and Im a Skyclan Cat! But Im also part Thunderclan... Elkpaw thought. Even if it does turn out to be more, I don't know now and so I won't tell anyone anything about it until I know for certain! Elkpaw appreciated the caring gesture from his mother and bobbed his head in thanks and appreciation. But he didn't know quite enough about how this was going to play out so he decided not to let anyone know anything about it, except for him and Cobraeyes.

IC: Mapledrop purred and flicked her son gently with her tail. "Alright. Let's go back to camp and ill help you out with your duties." The dark red she cat meowed to her son and turned and started to walk back to camp, letting her son know that she didn't care about the border thing or the river just that she was here for him if he wanted to tell her anything, and she would keep it a secret.
