A morning mosey

Willowkit woke up rather slowly and stretched his still small body from head to tail. He left the heat of his mother and quietly climbed out of the security of the nursery, as he had seen other kits do. He hadn't been in much of a rush to adventure by himself, but this morning he decided it would be good start. The morning air was cool and crisp, and he shivered in response. The camp was silent and still, as most of the camp was still asleep. He padded tentatively out further and sat down, wrapping his fluffy tails around his paws to try and keep them warm. He surveyed the camp with awe, because everything looked so giant to him. He hoped that someone would wake up soon and play with him.

The long legged Rainkit, woke with a jolt as he felt tiny paws treading across his tail. He was much too big to be in a nest since he was close to becoming an apprentice, which meant his tail and sometimes feet hung over the edge. He perked his black ears and arched his ginger back in a long morning stretch as he watched the kit stumble out into the world beyond. Geez! I'm welcoming all the kits these days! He purred as he clambered out of the entrance to greet the young one.

Willowkit turned his head at the sudden break in the silence. His olive green eyes lit up and he unwrapped his tail from his small paws and rose up to greet his fellow kit.
"Hello!" he squeaked, his tail swaying eagerly behind him.

Still sleepy, Rainkit yawned as he swiped his black paws across his muzzle. "Hiya kit! Whatcha doing up so early?" He purred, amber gaze focusing on the small one.

Marigoldleaf smiled, looking at her kit get out. She loved them so. She buried the other kit, also the runt, named Winterkit into her fur. She allowed the kit to suckle, purring. No cat knew about who the father was, and she had no intention to tell them, for the good of both her and the kits.

"Explorin' the camp" he answered, looking at the older kit. He hoped that his sister, Winterkit would come out of the nursery today too.

Rainkit nodded in approval, "Would you like a tour?" He mewed kindly. With nothing to do he always enjoyed showing the younger ones around.

"Yes please!" Willowkit replied eagerly, wanting to see all that was in the camp.

Rainkit nodded and glanced around camp, "Let's start by the entrance!" He mewed as he bounded over to the tunnel entrance, long black legs carrying him quickly. Once they both got there he stopped to begin his tour. "This is where we enter and leave our camp, warriors always bring prey back too! The fresh-kill pile is over there" He perked his ears to the decent pile of fresh caught animals. Strolling over to the dens he waited for his new friend.

Willowkit followed the older kit and stared at all of the new sights in awe. He couldn't wait until he was old enough to do stuff like add to the fresh kill pile! He looked on ahead and noticed the place where he had seen the older cats going in and out of from the entrance of the nursery. He wondered what it was like in there.

Rainkit pricked the ground with his smoky black paws, in excitement at the kits reaction. Motioning towards the dens he listed them off easily. "That's the warriors den, the apprentice's den you gotta be 6 moons old to be one, medicine cat's den they heal your wounds, and the leaders den! Any questions?" He mewed softly, he knew it could be a little overwhelming from his own personal experience, and feeling it was his responsibility as the oldest kitten to show every other kit around, wanted them to know everything to be a good Shadowclan cat.

Willowkit took a few seconds to process all the new information he had just gathered before thinking of a question to ask. "What's it like out there?" he asked, motioning with his tail towards the entrance to the camp.

Rainkit hunkered down to the ground, amber eyes full of mischief he whispered. "When I was a few moons younger, I snuck out of camp! It's amazing! The trees and smells are crazy!" His voice strained to keep calm and not squeaky with glee. If any cat found out, he'd be In serious trouble

Willowkit stared at Rainkit, his eyes full of interest and mischief. "Wow! You're so brave! I don't think that i'd be able sneak like that!" he squeaked excitedly, slightly louder than he should have.

Deadkit limped out of the nursery, his lame paw dragging uselessly. He saw Rainkit and Willowkit.
