Morning's sun [o]

Foxkit yawned, the sun's rays lazily floating through the nursery's thick bramble walls. Jumping up, she shook the moss and lichen off her long fur, and padded out the semi-crowded den. Her paws itched to do *something*, but playing with mossballs all day was getting boring. She turned back to the nursery, frowning.

Maybe she should get to know some of her denmates better.. The more she thought about it, other than her siblings, she barely knew them past their names.

Shadekit was laying out in front of the nursery half asleep but awoke fully when Foxkit came by.

He was a sweet kitten, wholesome and very kind... but he was very very stupid at times and very easy to trick / prank if others told him to do things.


he looked up at his denmate with a goofy smile "Hi Foxkit" he purred knowing her name but not a ton much more about her beyond that.


Getting to his paws and giving a cute little stretch the young kitten tom scratched at his ear with a paw and a wide yawn.


"hmm?? wanna play?" he asked her tilting his head. His eyes were wide and cheery but held very little signs of any thought going on behind them. He was certainly not a very smart kitten but he was playful and wholesome as ever.

Foxkit smiled a bit as she saw the other kitten's goofy smile; "Hello, Shadekit," She meowed, padding toward the dark-furred tom. He was Hornetkit's brother, if she remembered correctly. It was kinda weird; they looked almost completely opposite save for their dark pelts and striking eyes. ..Then again, it wasn't like she and Beetlekit looked all too similiar, either.

"Sure!" she mewed, discarding her musings. "Hm.. Maybe we can play mossball?" she suggested.

Shadekit took a little to respond as he sat there for a moment... it was as though the cute little furball had to process that question for a bit. His mind was certainly NOT fast at all and it probably showed.


He nodded a wide grin on his face. "oh yay! I like that idea" he purred.

He was easily told what to do and would follow just about whatever anyone told him good or bad advise.


Looking around he spotted a mossball and used his claws to flick it over to his new playmate.

This was a good game to play for a little bit he figured.

Foxkit dashed toward the mossball, rounding the small ball before it could 'escape'. A powerful swing of her paws sent it straight back to her denmate.

..A little too close to Shadekit, actually. She winced as the moss hit the dark-furred tom-kit. "-Oh no! Sorry!" mewed Foxkit, quickly scurrying to her playmate. "Are you alright?" she asked, looking over Shadekit with worry.

Shadekit blinked as the mossball bonked off him. It did not hurt and he was fine.

"yeah i am okay!" he meowed a big wide grin clear.

His attention span was very short however and he frowned looking at the mossball. He had played alot of it recently and the nursery was the same thing it felt like. He liked playing mossball but it got repetitive a little bit.


He tossed it back over to his playmate but tilted his head curious if she wanted to do anything else.

"hmm wanna go see if we can catch any warriors tails? I bet I can catch more than you!" he challanged with a playful nod.



"Or we could do whatever else too" he offered curious if she knew any fun things they could get into.

She breathed as the other kit affirmed he was alright, and gave a small chuckle at his wide grin. The tom-kit's smile was practically contagious.

Shadekit's suggestion, though, seemed a little.. risky. Like the two might get in some trouble if they bothered the wrong warrior; even the queens had little patience for kits messing with their tails. He did make it sound fun, though.. "Oh! Oh!" Foxkit had another idea, "We could climb the elder's tree!" she meowed, flicking her fluffy tail toward the old, collapsed tree.

She frowned, "But.. Catching tails also sounds like it'd be fun; plus it'd make us better hunters.." Foxkit turned back to Shadekit; "Which one should we do?"

Shadekit grinned happily listening to her idea. Climbing the big tree sounded really cool and he had no common sense to see it might be a bad idea.

His head was filled with fluff and he agreed with her plan right away.

"oh good idea!" he purred as he walked over to the tree cautiously making sure no one was directly watching them.

"lets do your idea I have never climbed before"

Foxkit smiled, padding with Shadekit carefully to just outside the elder's den. The fallen tree was big; she had only gone up a few rabbit-lengths before. Going all the way up and down was probably was gonna be just as easy, right? Foxkit scrambled up part of the old tree, clawing onto the bark.

Shadekit hoped up and down excited next to the tree watching his new friend begin to climb up it. “Oh yes! Go foxkit go!” he cheered her on. He didn’t want his friend to be lonely up there so empty headed as always he decided he would climb too!

He had seen her do it how hard could this be? He clawed into the bark and tried to pull himself up . So far so good.

“Let’s go higher foxkit!” he purred happily

She beamed at Shadekit's encouragement; this was a good idea, after all!  She glanced downward for a moment at a scratching sound- he had also begun to climb up. Her paws tingled in excitement as she pulled herself higher on dead tree, "I'm almost at the top!" she chirped. The collapsed tree was only around three tail-lengths tall, but it still posed a significant challenge to the still-small kit.

..And there was only dirt and twigs below her, Foxkit realized, digging her claws a bit deeper into the wood.
