Patrol, anybody?

Palefrost decided it was a great day for hunting, so the she-cat waited for cats to join. She heard pawsteps and turned toward the noise.

Dewpaw slid out of the apprentices den and stretch briefly before padding up to Palefrost, "May I join?"

Palefrost purred at the gray apprentice. "Sure you can! What section of the river do you think will have the most fish this time of year?" she quizzed Dewpaw, tilting her head. The warrior was determined to go to the area where the most fish were so she could try out her fishing moves that had gotten her her warrior name.

Lightningpaw padded from her den, hearing the cats chatting. She yawned. "Sorry to but in" she said "but, can I join?"

Dewpaw wrinkled her nose in deep thought, " It's the beginning of Greenleaf so.."

Palefrost laughed. "That's alright. We can decide on the way." Turning to Lightningpaw, she nodded. "You didn't butt in, and yeah, you can join!" she mewed, smiling.

Lightningpaw smiled. "When are we leaving?" She asked

Tansypaw trotted across the RiverClan camp. She had gone to ask her mentor, Fishstar, if they could do anything, but the Clan leader was, understandably, busy. She saw a group of cats- probably going on a patrol. "Hey," she meowed. "What are you doing?"

"Are you guys going on a patrol?" Salmonpaw asked, padding up to Palefrost. She looked over at Tansypaw. "Hi, Tansypaw!" She exclaimed brightly.

"Hi," smiled Tansypaw. She turned back to the new-ish warrior- Palefrost?- and her group of apprentices. "If you are going on a patrol, can we come?"

Dewpaw flicked her ears impatiently, "Will we leave before moonhigh or after?" She sighed and looked at Palefrost.

The gray warrior laughed, but flicked her ears. "We're leaving right now, we're going to hunt, and yes you can come with us." The she-cat answered all of the young cats' questions in one breath. Palefrost rose up and padded slowly away, giving the apprentices time to follow her. She turned and spoke to Dewpaw, resuming their conversation. "The best place to hunt would be the shallow places, where the trees aren't towering over the water. The fish would most likely be out in the sunny water, where it's not too cool. It's only the beginning of Greenleaf, and it's not too hot, so they would be out in the sun instead of the shade." she explained, talking to not just the dewy gray apprentice, but all four of them.

Dewpaw nodded and slowed down to fall in step with her friend, Salmonpaw.

Tansypaw followed Dewpaw and Salmonpaw, an extra spring in her step. She loved hunting!

Lightningpaw smiled. She knew they were going to the river. As she walked, she heard the sound of rushing water. She ran to the river following the sound. She peered into the river the looked back. The others were in sight. I shouldn't have run off she decided but, put her paw in the water waiting for a vulnerable fish
