Minnowpaw and Ashpaw's Warrior Ceremony

"All cats old enough to swim gather to hear my words!" Reedstar's call rang out into the busy camp. It was around Sunhigh, but you'd never know that looking up at the sky. There was a ceiling of drab cloud and a stubborn wind that made the willow branches sway and rustle and whisper. I'm going to be sick. he thought to himself as he dug his claws into the silvery bark. Don't fall off, don't fall off, don't fall off... Climbing had never been RiverClan's strong suit, yet the leader was made to sit on a branch whenever they needed a meeting. Some cruel joke of StarClan's, no doubt.

Minnowpaw arose from his nap and looked to see Reedstar standing on a branch of the willow tree. He loomed rather dizzy but the silver apprentice shook the thought from his head. ~Reedstar is strong, he survived the fall from the gorge.~ he reassured himself as he smoothed his pelt before padding over to the tree.

A pair of green eyes peered out from the apprentice's den. A short white tom followed the curious orbs, resting his gaze on Reedstar. Is this our ceremony? Just in case, he smoothed his dotted fur and joined his friend under the willow.

OOC: Do either of you have a warrior name in mind, or would you like me to choose?

"Minnowpaw, Ashpaw, step forward." Reedstar called. Once they had, he launched into the old words. "I, Reedstar, leader of RiverClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on these apprentices. They have trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend them to you as a warriors in their turn. Minnowpaw, Ashpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your lives?"

Minnowpaw stepped forwards and raised his head high, puffing out his silver chest. His blue eyes sparkled either side of the white flash on his forehead (hence his future name, and his speed). "I do." The small tom announced, bold and clear.

The other tom stepped forwards and said clearly, "I do." His green orbs flashed in a rare feeling of triumph. 'Warriorship is a single heartbeat away..', the flecked very-soon-to-be-warrior thought.

Silvercloud watched the two apprentices become warriors, purrimg at the fact that the clan was thriving with members.

Reedstar purred. "Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior names. Minnowpaw, from this moment you will be known as Minnowflash. StarClan honors your energy, and we welcome you as a full warrior of RiverClan." He turned his attention to the other apprentice; Ashpaw. The leader would have been lying if he had said that he hadn't doubted him with his soft kittypet origins, but Ashpaw had lost his mother and proven himself strong and resilient. He had earned this. "Ashpaw, from this moment you will be known as Ashcloud. StarClan honors your intelligence, and we welcome you as a full warrior of RiverClan."


"Minnowflash! Ashcloud! Minnowflash! Ashcloud!"

Minnowflash purred as the crowd chanted their names. The warrior took a step forward to lick Reedstar's shoulder respectfully and stepped back to let Ashcloud repeat. He looked up to the sky I just wish you were here....

Ashcloud smiled and did the same. A warm glow of pride heated his belly until he felt like he was roasting nice and crispy. He too was thinking of his own mother, would she be proud of him? Guessing from the crowd's chant, some of his Clanmates were.
