Sorrelkit's Apprentice Ceremony

Lichencloud was nowhere near an old cat. He had only been RiverClan's sole medicine cat for a few moons, actually. However, with the flood happening, leaving RiverClan weak with little herbs in stock, he could use the extra paws. In addition, he felt as if StarClan was summoning him to this little cat.

The younger, smaller tom was a light brown cat with dark brown eyes. Sorrelkit, soon to be Sorrelpaw, was his name. He was an eager kit, always bombarding him with questions and requests. Lichencloud truly thought he could see a great medicine cat in the tall kit, and was only slightly concerned with his choice.

He realized he was staring. He was watching Sorrelkit with his pale green eyes as they sat in the dying light high up on the cliff, right in front of Mothermouth. It wasn't quite dark yet, but they should head in soon. "Are you nervous, Sorrelkit?" Lichencloud asked with his deep, rumbling voice.

Sorrelkit was beside Lichencloud, nervously but also excitedly shaking. Out of all mentors, he got Lichencloud. The brown tom would be allowed to have a heart within StarClan, and his paws shaped with their guidance.

Nodding, he let out a small sigh as he looked at the sky, Silverpelt glowing brightly. "A little..."  He replied, a waver of emotion quivering. As his gaze went back to his soon-to-be mentor, he was ready.

With that, Lichencloud stood. The cave was not daunting to him anymore, and he strode into it with the confidence of a veteran. He almost was. However, he slowed down once he was in the dark. Resting his tail on the apprentice's shoulder, he led the way in content silence.

Sorrelkotlet out a nervous squeak before using the guidance of Lichencloud to enter, and hiseyes tried their best to see in the dark. But he calmed down knowing Lichencloud was nearby, and he felt the soft tail from him.

They reached the cave just before the stone was to shine. Lichencloud took a seat next to the stone and motioned for him to do the same. Some moonlight was filtering in, and Lichencloud placed his tail tip to his lips to make sure he knew to be quiet.

Seeing Lichencloud's signals, his eyes were wide, and he sat by Lichencloud, his eyes scanning the glorious stone for the first of many, many times. But at his signal to stay silent, he kept from exclaiming how beautiful the marvelous portal from the living to StarClan was.

The same excitement filled his heart when he saw the way the stone shimmered when the moon hit it. The light filled the cave and made his eyes shimmer. "Sorrelkit, the duties of a medicine cat is to communicate with StarClan, help your clan, and be a friend to any cat, no matter what clan. Is it true you have chosen the path of a medicine cat?"

With a nod, he replied with a slightly nervous 'yes', his soft amber eyes ready to actually be able to share words with StarClan.

"Then from now until you get your full medicine cat name, your new name will be Sorrelpaw." Lichencloud touched his nose to his new apprentice's head. "Touch your nose to the rock, please."

Sorrelpaw, newly named, nodded, and obidiently touhed his small nose to the rock, and he was sent to be accepted by StarClan as a future medicine cat.
