That Awkward Moment When You Remember You're a Mentor

Stalking across ThunderClan territory seemed almost natural to her now. Kestrelflight had sure been there enough moons to know it decently. Traveling across WindClan, however, was much more difficult and scary to her. She always had that trickle of paranormia when she was away from Lilacstorm and Redheart, but out in the open land, it grew until she was shaking. Or it could just be from the cold breeze that seemed to be continuously running through her fur. She growled. Why did she have to mentor a stupid WindClan cat anyway? Shaking her head, she climbed another rolling hill, turning her head to scan the area. Her carefull eyes noticed a lithe botdy moving in the distance, her scent being carried straight torward the form by the wind. Sitting down, she scrunched her eyes together and watched the figure come closer. Her matted and ungroomed fur moved only slightly in the wind. Basically, Kestrelflight was only a shadow of the once beautiful cat she was.

Stormstar trecked across the territory, his eyes narrowed against the bitter, leaf-bare winds. He never understood why the other Clans didn't like the open plain. He figured because they liked being able to hide from their targets, but that seemed cowardly, it was better to face them face on. His gaze flickered upwards to the sitting cat on the hill. He had spoken to Kestrelflight right before SkyClan and ThunderClan had headed back to their camp about training his daughter, words couldn't describe how happy he was when she said yes. As he made his way up the hill, he flickered his tail to the SkyClan medicine cat. "Kestrelflight! I'm so happy that you could make it!"

Occ: Just so everybody knows, this takes place between parts 11 and 12 I guess.

Kestrelflight struggled to force a natural looking smile. It came out more like a creepy, murderous smile. She quickly letting it fade. Instead, she chose to dip her head. "Greeting Stormstar. WindClan cats need a medicine cat too. It would be an honnor to train your daughter." Those words sounded formal, right? Kestrelflight hoped it did. Formality was not her thing. Standing, Kestrelflight swept her gaze across the territory again. "I hope Icepaw is ready to train. t will be difficult with being in different clans, but we'll make it work." Kestrelflight's mind whirlled with the wording. She couldn't quite remember how to talk so... correctly.

Stormstar just nodded, not really taking notice to how odd Kestrelflight was acting, he was to worried about the upcoming battle. "Of course she is, she has been been waiting for a while." With that, the leader turned and padded toward the camp with the SkyClan medicine cat on heels, a small smile on his face. Soon, WindClan would have a full medicine cat once again.

Kestrelflight followed behind, her paws heavier then the leader in front of her. She wasn't really one to be quiet when it was unneeded. Soon, they were coming upon the camp, and her anxiety grew. She wasn't comfortable around cats she didn't know.

As they reached the camp, Stormstar paused in the middle. The camp was almost empty, everybody patrolling or hunting while the kits were staying in the nursery for their safety. He glanced at Kestrelflight as he flickered his tail toward one of the holes that WindClan used as dens. "Over there is the medicine cat den. Icepaw should be inside waiting for you. I'll be in my den, which is over there. Come and get me when you are ready to leave and I'll show you back to the border." Stormstar gave Kestrelflight once last glare before retreating into his den until the end of the topic.

Kestrelflight nodded, streaking torwards the hole.
