Le Willowpaw's Training

"I... I don't know it's name, but I do recognize it," Willowpaw admitted. She sniffed at it, then looked to Ebonyroot. "What is it used for?"

"It's used to heal wounds. You would chew it to a pulp and put it under cobwebs." she answered.

"Chew it to a pulp and put it under cobwebs, got it," Willowpaw mumbled under her breath. She studied the plant closely for a moment, then smiled in satisfaction. "What's next?" she asked Ebonyroot.

Ebonyroot nodded. "If your short on Goldenrod, Horsetail or Marigold will work as a replacement." she finished. "Well... Have you ever seen Juniper berries?" she asked, continuing their walk to fourtrees.

"Possibly," the apprentice replied slowly. She wasn't sure what they looked like, but she recognized the name.

"Alright." Ebonyroot meowed and padded forward, leading her to an evergreen bush with pale purple berries on it. "This is a juniper berry." she said, picking up one of the small fruits with her claw. "These are useful in many different ways. Does this spark anything in your mind?" she asked.

Willowpaw sniffed the plant, and smiled.
"I recognize them," she replied. "When I was younger, one of the other kits had a bellyache. They were given these berries to make it better."

"Very good." Ebonyroot praised, "Do you know what else they are good for?"

Willowpaw racked her brains, thinking of when else she had seen the berries. It came to her in a rush.
"For coughs?" she answered tentatively, hoping she was right.

"Yes." She smiled, flicking the small berry off her claws, which must have looked quite off to anyone who was not Willowpaw. A berry was floating in mid-air. D: "It is also used to give a cat strength for a bit, and calms the mind. It's a very useful herb." She licked her paw for a moment. "Anywho, you do know the cure for Greencough is Catmint, yes?"

"I think I heard Cowbelle say that once, yes," the apprentice mewed. "Does it need to be mushed or anything, or can it be given straight to the sick cat?"

"You must give it straight to the cat. He would need to chew it on his own." she answered, "If you mess with it yourself in anyway, you loose the precious juices used to heal the patient."

Willowpaw nodded as she took this in.
"I understand," she told the former Shadowclan medicine cat.

"Good. I think the last thing we should cover today is an herb that'll fight off infections, just in case..." Ebonyroot meowed and led her to a fluffed out green herb near the small ShadowClan border. Nearby there was a low-standing plant with bright yellow flowers. "That is Horsetail." she meowed, pointing to the green plant, and then turned to the yellow flower. "And that is Marigold."

Willowpaw looked to both plants, nodding at each as though they were other cats she were greeting.
"And are they given directly, or must they need to be crushed?" she asked, still examining the horsetail and marigold.
