The thudding of mismatched paws was wreckless and frantic as a greasy looking tom zig-zagged through tall pine trees. Skidding to a halt, the intruder turned his back towards the split stone that made his dead-end. A hiss escaped him as a copper-colored fox appeared in front of him - breathing just as heavy as Grub was - bearing it's razor sharp teeth.

Had he rustled a fox den? Yes. Was he willing to own up to the consequences? Not really, but it was too late for that. "You beasts just don't give up, do you? Fine. Let's play." He charged forward, which confused the fox for only a second as it braced itself for whatever this cat was about to do... Only for him to completely miss the fox and slam into a nearby pine, making a pawful of needles flutter to the ground around him.

A screech awoke him from his sleep. Valley sat up, ears pricked as he tried to find the source of the sound. The forest. Or rather, the territory claimed by some other wild cats. He had gone by the place many times, though he hadn't stepped over that horribly stinky line they called a border. Some times of the day, he could even hear the cats patrolling the area. And now, it sounded like someone was in trouble. The noise was faint, probably far away. The wild cats will deal with it, he told himself. But it still nagged at him. What if someone was really in need of help? He couldn't just not do anything. At last, with a deep sigh, Valley got to his paws and raced into the trees, crossing the border for the first time.


Valley burst through the undergrowth in time to spot a tom slamming into a tree. Not much damage had been done yet, but he was right: someone was in trouble. He hissed at the fox and and clamped his fangs around the creature's tail, then yanked it out with enough force to knock the beast off balance.

Sneaking out of camp had become a daily routine for Silverwing. Part of her had wanted Birdstar to scold her for breaking her rules at first, but each time the she-cat left camp without an escort nothing happened. She wasn't sure if Birdstar just didn't care anymore or if the leader trusted her enough to be on her own now, but Silverwing enjoyed her little walks. This however, seemed to be more of the exciting type of walk, as the struggles of cats reached her ears. Strange, she didn't know of any patrols that would be around at this time.

The silver she-cat bounded toward the sounds of fighting, only to be met with two unfamiliar cats. Rogues, and this deep in her territory. She would have to deal with them both, but after the fox was dealt with. Silverwing didn't bother speaking to the two as she thrust herself into the battle, claws ripping at the fox's flank.

A tabby and a rather pretty silver she-cat had entered the fray, giving Grub enough time to pick himself up before the fox could retaliate against him. The fox did, however, make a move against the silver beauty. He would not be having that.

A quick nod to the tabby tom for the first assist, Grub launched at the fox with claws spread wide. Followed closely by a fake out as though he were done, striking the fox a second time across the flank.

Valley nodded at the new silver cat that joined them, then jumped back as the fox attacked. Its target was the silver tabby, not him, thankfully. The patch-furred tom was attacking the fox again, so Valley followed suit with with flurry of strikes.

Silverwing had been bitten by a fox before. Her body could still remember that shattering pain, and it out of fear and instinct that her body moved quick enough to duck out of the range of the snapping maw. She didn't make an immediate attempt to rejoin the fight, instead Silverwing found herself backing away from the beast. Though she hadn't done much, she was sure the rogues would be able to handle themselves from here...

Now was not the time to try and be a hero or to woo a pretty molly. And yet, here he was. But Grub had always been like that since he was a newborn; a bad habit Mr. Worm had tried to rid him of, only for the lectures to fall on deaf ears.

And seeing the spotted she-cat begin to back out, he couldn't help but feel sorry that she'd even got involved. Although... She *did* join in without being asked. So he couldn't feel all that bad.

So far, the other tom had been the only one to make a dent in this fight. And it looked like it would remain that way as Grub once again missed his target and slid past the silver she-cat he had tried to protect.

Valley hissed as fangs sank into his flesh. The tom jerked, trying to dislodge the fox. Where were the other two cats in this fight? He looked up to see the patchy-furred tom skid past after missing yet another attack the the spotted she-cat cowering in a corner. Right. Whatever. He remained under the fox, until the creature relaxed and made to get off him. Then, in a flurry of swipes, Valley sent the fox screeching away.

Silverwing's eyes narrowed as the grungy tom slid past her, missing his attack. Her attention was drawn back to the fox and the rogue that seemed to be lifeless under it. That was her fault wasn't it? No, it looked like he was breathing still. They could handle themselves. They could... Stars, just look at them. While the rogue still fighting seemed somewhat competent, the other seemed to be useless.

Actually, it isn't even looking at me anymore. Silverwing shot one last look at the greasy tom, then she leapt toward the fox. Its attention was still planted on the rogue that had just lashed out at it, which let the molly get a good attack of her own in. Silverwing landed on the beast's back, digging her claws in as far as they could reach before delivering a devastating bite to the back of the creature's neck.

The silver she-cat was the one to deal the final blow, the fox giving one last pathetic screech before keeling over and ceasing to be. Getting to his mottled paws, Grub gave his pelt a heavy shake before turning to address the strangers with a grin. A grin that shouldn't have been on a cat who failed to do much damage this whole fight - especially when that very cat had basically lured it here to begin with. It was a reckless type of grin that signaled he had zero worries about the whole thing.

"Well, that sure was exciting! Everyone alright? No one dying?" Golden gaze swept both of them, hinting notes of blood but nothing insane. "Fancy meeting you two here. The name's Grub. The pleasure is mine."

Valley starred at the patchy-furred tom in disbelief. The tom had done absolutely nothing, and yet there was a huge grin on his face. "Valley," He introduced, still not believing his eyes. This... Grub acted as if he had saved him and the silver she-cat, not the other way round. Ignoring the tom for now, Valley turned to face the molly. "My apologies for crossing the border, I heard screams and had to come help. I'll leave now," He mewed, hoping that the she-cat wasn't going to conjure up another hoard of warriors to chase him out of the territory. He had been kicked out of territories far too many times already.
