Strolling alongside the swift river, Brookpaw was looking forward to catching some prey for her clan but that plan was suddenly thrown out when her gaze focused on a slim creature slinking through the reeds. Her eyes narrowed. Was-Was that a
weasel? She had never seen one and had only been warned about the speedy little beasts. She felt her fur rise in agitation. She knew it was risky trying to take it on by herself but she couldn't let it just wander her clan's territory and do as it pleased. She had the advantage of surprise right then. If she didn't act right now, later, an unsuspecting cat would be the one being pounced on by the weasel. She couldn't let that happen. It was going down whether it wanted to or not.

Without waiting much, she broke from the reeds she'd been hiding behind and with a mighty battle cry, bowled the sleek predator over with a well-timed jump. She rolled for a bit but managed to steady herself back up onto her paws.

She smirked down at it in a taunting way but her victory was short-lived when the menace whirled around and flung towards her. She had no time to prepare before she felt a sharp pain pulse through her left foreleg. The horrible beast just bit her and wasn't getting off!
"OI! Get off me ya overgrown rat! I'll shred you to pieces! Just you wait!" she snarled viciously. However, no matter what she did, it wasn't letting go of her arm and it was
really starting to hurt.

Through the pain-induced haze, Brookpaw managed to bend her neck down so she could clamp down onto whatever piece of the foul, short-legged creature she could. She felt satisfaction fill her when she heard it shriek. Despite her attempts to tear it off her limb, it stubbornly held on. She was already on her wit's end. She didn't have the patience for this...

Hissing in irritation and pain, Brookpaw, after what seemed like ages, managed to make it loosen its harsh grip on her. She took that opportunity to yank her injured arm then proceeded to jump back with a snarl. Her tail lashed in anger as she eyed the weasel with contempt. Stupid thing. She could tell that it was weak. Hopefully, she could finish it off before it decided to snack on her other arm. She needed at least
three legs in order to somewhat move around thank you very much.

Before she no longer had her chance, she sprung into action. With her injured paw, she swiftly brought it down upon the weak weasel's throat. She felt her claws slice right through it. At the same time, she felt dissatisfying pain shoot up her arm. She blinked away the stars that were flashing before her eyes. She bit the inside of her cheek to keep herself from crying out. It was her fault, after all. She had wanted to deal the last blow with the very same arm it had injured. Ah well. At least it was over and she could properly curse it to the Dark Forest and back.

Sighing, Brookpaw winced as she tried to limp forward. Ah. This was going to be an issue. She eyed the weasel's body with disdain before shaking her head. She didn't want to just leave it here. It was perfectly good food to feed her clan with. However, she wasn't going to be able to drag it back in her condition. Sighing again, she set to work trying to at least drag it to a patch of reeds so it could be hidden for retrieval later.

It had taken a considerable amount of time but she managed to hide her "catch". She looked at it one last time before turning and beginning her slow trek back to the camp. She'll have to ask a warrior to come back to retrieve the weasel. She doubted that she'd be let back out once she turns up looking like she looked. Shrugging to herself, Brookpaw hurried along. Hopefully, the clan appreciated her efforts to rid them of the pest. One thing was for certain, she'll never try to take anything on alone unless she had no other choice. This was too much of a hassle and she'd rather avoid those in the future.
