Thunder Rolls [Open]

Echopaw sat outside the apprentice den, bright green eyes staring up at the ever darkening sky. He didn't know why he was awake so early.. Maybe it had to do with the rumbling thunder that was going through the sky on a constant? Rain hadn't followed, though the scent was in the air. It wouldn't be too long he assumed. It was only a matter of time.

The tortie tom closed his eyes as another rumble shook the air. His feather like tail wrapping around his paws tightly. At least no one was here to bother him at the moment, though, like the rain, it was to be short lived.

Honeypaw has had more energy than ever since his apprentice ceremony. He woke up early and trotted out of the apprentice den, taking a moment to stretch out, giving a huge yawn.

He doesn’t really expect to find many cats out and about just yet, so he was excited when he spotted Echopaw. He wanted to get to know the other apprentices, so he didn’t hesitate in trotting up to him. He sat down near him, though still giving him some space, as he said, “Hi!” He looked at Echopaw with bright eyes for a moment before looking up at the sky. “Wow, it looks like it’s really gonna come down, huh?” He mewed

Leopardpaw was wandering the camp somewhat aimlessly, with nothing to do for the moment. She'd grown accustomed to waking early over her apprenticeship, and now she appreciated the extra time before she was typically needed for much of anything. On this day, though, she had planned to sleep in - plans that were interrupted by the continuous low rumble of distant thunder. She slipped out of the apprentice's den, noting that hers wasn't the only empty nest.

It didn't take long to find where her denmates had gone: Echopaw and Honeypaw sat nearby. The air was heavy with the promise of rain as she joined them, though it hadn't started to fall. "I wonder," she mused aloud, "if that's what ThunderClan cats sound like."

Truthfully, she didn't often spare much thought to the other clans outside of stories - she'd never met one of them, after all, so it was pointless speculation - but the sound made her wonder if that was somehow what it was always like in their part of the forest. Every step another rumble of thunder.

Leafpaw was perched not so far away from her brother and heard some of the conversation. much like Echopaw, Leafpaw had never really enjoyed the company of others. she gave the tortoiseshell tom a smile that was a bit like a grimace as she watched cats greet him.

want to come here? she mouthed silently, before raising her voice so that Leopardpaw and Honeypaw could hear her, "Echopaw, want to come share this frog with me?" she didn't help anycat much, but she would have wanted her siblings to help her too.

Echopaw couldn't help but flinch at the sound of the other's greeting. "Loud.." He uttered out, in a not so soft manner. The spotted tom crouched lower, seeming to fold in on himself a little. He was about to open his mouth to speak something, maybe to get this other tom out of his space but then another cat appeared. Where are they all coming from? He mused to himself as his narrowed green eyes studied their forms.

"I doubt it, its Thunderclan not Lionclan." Thunder rumbled above again. "Unless they are obnoxiously loud when they talk." Green eyes flicked over to movement, seeing his sister just a short distance away. He certainly appreciated her effort in wanting to save him from this, he knew that if he went to her, these two would just follow, but the rumble in his stomach spoke otherwise for him.

"Yeah.. Thanks." He offered plainly to his sibling, but he truly did appreciate the offer. As he settled by her, he offered the others some small talk, hopefully to keep them satisfied. "It's only a matter of time before the rain will come." He said to the others. "Good chance to catch more frogs."

Honeypaw gave a soft, thoughtful hum of thought at Leopardpaw and Echopaw’s words. “Maybe they’re not loud, but their voices are just super deep?” He suggested. He’s so curious as to what the other clans are really like.

At Echopaw’s words about the rain, Honeypaw gasped excitedly. “Frogs, I haven’t caught a frog yet!” He said, looking up at the sky and smiling as the light breeze ruffled his fur. “Have any of you caught a frog yet? Is it different from stuff like mice?” He asked the other three.

"Maybe their voices are loud and super deep," Leopardpaw mused. Then another possibility occurred to her. "Or- what if that's just what they want us to think, so we won't see them coming?"

Echopaw's comment about the rain making frogs easier to catch led Leopardpaw to imagine the marsh so full of them that it was more frog than water - enough prey that no cat in ShadowClan would ever go hungry again. It was only a daydream, but... Well, she liked frogs. A never-ending supply of her favorite prey was something worth dreaming of.

"I've caught lots of frogs," Leopardpaw boasted in response to Honeypaw's question. After a moment's thought, she figured she could at least offer him some advice. "Eh, well... It's a bit different? They're more slippery, mostly. You've gotta really get a grip on 'em before they slide right out of your paws."

Leafpaw flicked her ear in acknowledgement of Echopaw, before taking a bite of the frog. she ignored the other apprentices' chatter, instead letting her thoughts drift.

Echopaw shook his head at the conversation taking a turn for Thunderclan cats having a deep voice. He doubted that was likely. All of the clan? With deep voices? Maybe some did, but it was very unlikely all did. The dark tom took a small bite of the frog his sister was sharing with him, green eyes looking between the other two apprentices.

"Frogs are easier to catch." The flecked tom said simply. He had a better time catching frogs and lizards more than anything else. He couldn't ever get ahold of mice.

Honeypaw considered Leopardpaw’s words, tilting his head to the side. He tried to imagine what Thunderclan was like for a moment longer. Then, the discussion of frogs brought his mind to the topic of prey.

“Slippery,” He repeated softly to himself, looking down at his paws and trying to imagine catching them. Maybe he’ll even catch some later today if he goes hunting! Then he shook himself back out of his thoughts and looked at the other apprentices and smiled. “Do any of you have a favorite thing to catch?”

"Frogs, mostly," Leopardpaw admitted. "I like trying to pin them down. But rats are fun to catch, too. They're definitely not as slippery! They're kinda fuzzy? Y'know, cause of the fur... Not quite as fuzzy as mice or squirrels, though."

The talk of prey was making her kind of wish she was eating something, or at least hunting with the promise of eating something.
