Until Our Last Breath [Sunningrocks War]

There was a nervous sigh that escaped Lionspark as she stood among her Clanmates, her fur standing on edge as her single good eye scanned the approaching RiverClan army. She didn't blame Blizzardstar for this choice to fight - it was a hard thing to decide on and she had faith in her leader but...Had she made a good choice to join? She was half blind - she had no idea how her fighting skills were and she feared she may only bring ThunderClan down in this battle but...She had to prove herself. She had to seek redemption and while she wasn't fond of fighting after what had happened with Bramblefrost, she knew this would be a good chance to show that her loyalty still stood with ThunderClan despite all that had happened. She sank her claws into the ground, holding her breath for when the first yowl of war would split the air.

Amberpelt shook her pelt as she slipped between the reeds, disappointed to see the crowd of ThunderClan cats that stood waiting. Were they really going to do this? Didn't they know that Sunningrocks were going to remain in RiverClan's claws? It seemed pointless, doing this battle. They all knew who would win and it wouldn't be the forest-dwellers. She snarled, bearing her fangs as she gave her tail an annoyed flick as she scanned the ThunderClan cats. How futile this battle was going to be.

Robinpaw trailed in with the ThunderClan cats, her claws unsheathed. These RiverClan cats would never know mercy, as long as she was here.

Smokepaw walked with the RiverClan cats, spotting Ashpaw she quickened her steps to walk next to her.

Violetpaw shivered as she stood behind Blizzardstar with the rest of the cats that had been chosen to fight for ThunderClan. She glanced nervously at RiverClan. This would be her first battle. She wondered what would happen... would all the cats here go home alive? Would she go home alive? She shifted on her paws, trying to quell her anxious thoughts, and stared ahead at Blizzardstar and Ivystar.

Vixenstep slunk behind the rest of her Clan, overcome with a mixture of feelings. Fear, for one. She didn't want anything to do with this. Anger was another one, though in smaller amounts. A tiny bit of eagerness lay in the back of her mind. What was wrong with her? She didn't want to fight. But that tiny part of her mind disagreed. As she thought about this mix of confusing emotions, her claws involuntarily unsheathed. What was she doing? But it was too late to question it. She feared for her life, but a new beast had reared its ugly head within her. It almost controlled her, making her draw back her lips to reveal gleaming teeth. Right, she thought, this is happening. She would defend RiverClan, even if it meant her death. Her head turned to the two leaders.

Dovepaw walked with long strides into Sunningrocks. She saw RiverClan assemble aswell. Bunch of fish-faces won't know what hit them. This is what she said in her head, but she was actually terrified. What if she died? What if one of her friends died? What if... What if Blizzardstar died? She would just have to wait and see. Why, oh why did she agree to come here?

Spotpaw narrowed his eyes, trying not to show his fear as he saw all the Thunderclan cats. Starclan help us, he thought. His confidence from camp had faded, and now he was truly afraid that he would die- or even worse, his mother or siblings. He tried to comfort himself. Riverclan is powerful, Riverclan will win. Riverclan is powerful, Riverclan will win. Riverclan is powerful, Riverclan will win. He began to nod his head with the rhythm of which he thought this. He snapped out of his daze to scan his gaze over all the cats he was to fight. Thunderclan looked scrawny. Maybe they really do need Sunningrocks- NO! Don't think that! He hardened his heart against them. They're weaklings that will be crushed easily. They made a mistake trying to take Sunningrocks. He could feel his heart beating. If I join Starclan, he swore to himself, I will do it with honor. This thought didn't change the fact that he was scared, though. How many will join their ranks today?

'Starclan... please look out for us.' Dewpaw looked at the sky, her little heart pounding in her chest. She struggled to hold back her worry and fear as the Thunderclan force seemed to flood and overwhelm the other side of Sunningrocks. Dewpaw looked towards the front and was surprised to see Lilytail come towards her. Gratefully, she let herself be comforted and bolstered by the presence of her mentor. She smiled at the white she-cat and nodded slightly. She could do this, they could do this. "I hope I'll make you proud." Her voice was soft, but certain as she spoke to Lilytail.

Shrewheart followed Blizzardstar to Sunningrocks, an excited smile across his maw, contrasting the serious expressions of his clanmates. Battle was nothing more than just a game to him. He missed the danger in battle, and just saw it as another way to enjoy life. In his mind, those who hated it were downright stupid. Waiting for his leader's orders, he shot the RiverClanners a smug look, unsheathing his claws in preparation.

Swooppaw was terrified. He was barely more than a kit, and was already taking part in a war. Fighting was bad, the opposite of friendship. So many opportunities for someone to accidentally break the code and kill someone. Why did RiverClan have to be so mean and give them what they needed to survive? At least that would make it easier to fight them. Taking a deep breath, he turned bravely to face his opponents, his fear obvious.

Nutfur spotted the ThunderClan cats moments before Ivystar's words. Oh StarClan, this was really happening. And she had no choice to leave, that would be breaking the code. So now she was stuck fighting for a cause that she didn't believe in. She waded into the river until only her head was above the water, ready to dive in and take some ThunderClanner by surprise. Breathing in deeply, she mentally prepared herself for battle.

Snailbelly looked to his mother with a worried glance. This was his first actual battle with other cats. He had been a warrior for some time, yet had never truly had to fight. The idea of getting raked and torn apart, even killed, was terrifying to him. He breathed in and out, in and out, to calm himself down. They were going to win this... maybe.

Weedblaze stood beside ThunderClan, ready to draw RiverClan blood. His Clan needed the Sunningrocks more than those lazy fish-eaters! He flexed his claws in the grass and dirt impatiently as he awaited the signal to go and rend flesh.

Robinpaw walked over to her brother, Swooppaw, and pressed against his side in a comforting motion. "I won't let them touch you." she whispered into his ear. Even though she was petrified of war, her worst fears were her family and friends getting injured, or worse. She wasn't scared for herself, the leader or her mentor. Blizzardstar and Shrewheart were brave and able fighters, she knew that, and she had full confidence in them. Robinpaw knew that she would be able to attack, no problem. It was Swooppaw, Lynxpaw, Hazelpaw, Olivepaw and Cherryfang that she was most worried for. She flicked her tail gently over her brother's shoulder. "We can fight them. Together."

Yarrowpaw waded into the waters beside his leader and mentor, unflinching. Blizzardstar's pleas for peace washed over him like raindrops. What did he care for ThunderClan's survival? If they all wasted away in the snow, that was more space for RiverClan to flourish. Surely they felt the same, even if they said they didn't. For him, it wasn't personal. This was merely Ivystar's command.

He watched the enemy cats on the opposite bank in muted interest, the same way he'd watch the birds or a foraging mouse, and quietly wondering whose blood would be swirling in the waters after it was all over.

Birchpaw saw Robinpaw and Swooppaw. What was she doing? Specklefang didn't need her help, she should be helping Swooppaw. She promised to be his friend and friends looked out for each other. With a sigh, she pushed her way to them, pressing Swooppaw's other side. ''Clear your head,
Swooppaw. We can handle this." she meowed with a smirk.

Snowblossom was terrified. She wasn't afraid to admit that- only afraid that in a few moments, her kin would lie bleeding out on the ground. Afraid that Splashwillow would die, afraid that Minnowpaw would die... afraid that Lakewhisper would die. It was him that she stood next to, and it took all of her nonexistent bravery not to melt into his fur and try to escape the hostile stares of the ThunderClan cats all around her. She knew that Ivystar and Blizzardstar were having a conversation, but their words just went in one ear and out the other. All she could hear was a strange buzzing sound. Her luminous, forest-green eyes darted around nervously, probably revealing her terror to the enemy cats- but at this point, all she cared about was staying on her feet. Her fluffy white pelt was bristling against the cold as she stood there, shivering, by her denmate and best friend- and possibly something more... but that was all she was doing right now. Standing. Soon, momentarily even, she'd be fighting other cats. Other cats with families, with wishes, hopes, dreams... cats who didn't want to die just as much as she did. Was there no way they could talk out this battle? Maybe she should be paying attention to what the leaders were saying. But she couldn't. The newly appointed warrior turned to Lakewhisper, feeling a sudden, desperate urge to say something before either of them could possibly die. "Lakewhisper, I... I..." Snowblossom swallowed, trying to get rid of the sudden lump in her throat that was probably the only thing blocking the contents of her stomach from rising up. "Stay safe, okay?"

Emberpaw watched as Blizzardstar approached Ivystar, and asked her not to start this fight. Though from the assembled RiverClan cats Emberpaw was certain it was a hopeless endeavor, she did hope for her leader to succeed. However, hope is only hope, and often nothing comes of it. Today, it seemed, would not be one of the rare exceptions.

"Do not insult RiverClan with your pathetic attempts to sway our hearts."

That was the part that made Emberpaw bristle. She heard the rest of the statement, and the shouts from supportive RiverClan cats, and she could see a sliver of reasoning in the more aggressive leader's words, but it still felt like none of this needed to happen. Still... If RiverClan was going to give it their all, ThunderClan would have to give their all and more if they were going to win.

Duckpaw glanced around at the other RiverClan cats that had come to fight. She noticed that some were wishing their loved ones and friends 'good luck'. She automatically assumed the other side, ThunderClan, was doing the same. The brown apprentice knew that, unfortunately, every cat that she would be charging into battle alongside with wouldn't be heading out of the battle with her. There would be deaths and casualties. Honestly, Duckpaw would be surprised if any cat on either side padded away from Sunningrocks with little to no injuries. She still felt deep down that all of this could be avoided, but it was too late, now. She believed that nobody really wanted a battle, they all just wanted what they were fighting for. So, they thought that a battle was the most necessary thing. Fear seemed to claw at her heart, just like all of the cats here would be doing to each other's pelts once the 'okay' was given to hope. Duckpaw hoped that there wouldn't be an 'okay' given... but she knew that it was going to happen anyways.

With all that she wished to say spoken, Ivystar pressed her ears down against her skull and unsheathed her sharpened claws into the pebbly earth. Draw up her head high, she took in a deep breath to yowl for all to hear. "RiverClan, attack! Tear down our enemy, and chase them back into the woods where they belong!"

With that, she shot off like a bullet. The leader slammed into Blizzardstar with a flurry of claws, twisting around the other leader to grasp at her tightly in her jaws. She sank her teeth into her flesh, until she felt blood ooze against her tongue before roughly shaking her head, teeth tearing at flesh.

Ivystar used Scruff Shake. Blizzardstar is stunned for one turns.

Otterleap yowled fiercely when he heard Ivystar's calling, before rushing into action himself. He was originally about to jump a warrior when he spotted her. The former ThunderClan leader, Darkflight, was in the battle with her clan. Though she only had three working legs, a former leader was always formidable. Thus he made up his mind, lashing out at her. He took advantage of her instability on her feet and smashed her head into the thin ice of river when they met in battle, forcing her head under into the icy depths.

Otterleap used Underwater Clinch. Darkflight is stunned for one turn.

Minnowpaw startled at how loud her clan's yowls were, but recovered quickly to join her grandfather in attacking the other clan. She went for a she-cat apprentices with blue eyes. Her pelt was all dirty grey, not sleek and pure in colour like hers. 'Filthy ThunderClan,' she thought as she got ready to pounce. And when she finally met the cat half-way, she followed Otterleap's example. Her grandfather and mentor had taught her well. Gripping the cat by the scruff, she slammed the apprentice's face into now broken ice to plunge her head under the surface.

Minnowpaw used Underwater Clinch. Lynxpaw is stunned for one turn.
