Up where the sunningrocks are (merrychuu/bubblenose)

Mosspaw pawed her way up a sunningrock, waiting for her mentor, Bubblenose, to follow on. She was going to attempt to hunt at Sunningrocks after they had just finished the territory tour. Mosspaw was excited to start hunting, especially with her friend Scorchpaw. Maybe Bubblenose would let them hunt together? Anyways, Scorchpaw hadn't communicated with Mosspaw much when she became an apprentice. It seemed as if being an apprentice gave Scorchpaw other problems. She sighed, waiting for Bubblenose to follow on. The camp seemed so far from Sunningrocks. She slipped on the rocky surface and got back up. It seemed as if Mosspaw had been lost in thought, which was more than true.

Walk like a majestic lion, eyes glinting with so much desire.

Bubblenose was happy to have an apprentice although she was rather surprised at how quickly it all happened. She felt confident enough in her skills to pass them down to Mosspaw, but she was still a bit nervous at the same time. There was a lot of information to give, and she was essentially responsible for Mosspaw's success from here on out. She typically wasn't a worrier, so what exactly made this situation different? No matter. They were here now and she had to stay focused for her apprentices' sake.

"Careful." She warned lightly as her apprentice slipped on the rocks.
"Welcome to Sunningrocks! Most apprentices usually start their training at the river, but I'm sure you've heard that it's poisoned right now. We'll start by learning how to catch land prey over here, and when the river is eventually safe again, I'll teach you everything that I know. Sound good?" Bubblenose explained to Mosspaw, trying to mask any disappointment in her voice.
They were literally named RiverClan, and yet she wouldn't be able to teach her apprentice how to take part in such a crucial part of their Clan's culture for the unforseeable future.

She then put on a quick smile. If she continued to focus on what they didn't have, then Mosspaw would learn absolutely nothing from her.
"The hunting crouch," She started, stepping away from the rock that she was beside so that she could demonstrate, "is one of the most important things you'll ever learn. Stealth is important when it comes to hunting."
She lowered herself to the ground, ensuring that her belly fur and her tail hovered slightly above the surface. She kept her limbs close to her body and her ears perked.
"If the prey hears you coming, they'll run. That's why the only thing that should be touching the ground are your paws. Why don't you give it a try?"

Pour more gasoline on fire, fly again, rising through the flames.

Mosspaw dropped into a low crouch, mimicking Bubblenose.

A scent... Toad!

She tracked the scent, pushing away the weeds blocking her way. She crept her way towards the toad, which was crawling near Sunningrocks, searching for its own food ,bugs.

She unsheathed her claws and her paws silently stepped forward, lightly pounding atop the frog, pounding it into the ground. She rolled backwards and steadied her paws for balance. It seemed Mosspaw had to practice that.

She walked towards the spot and pounced, to find the toad dead or alive. She didn't care; she could always hunt more.

"I think I caught a toad," she mewed after Bubblenose, pushing the weeds away from her again and scampering towards the toad. It was dead. She knew this while padding towards it, hearing its final croaks. A big cut in its side, blood squirting out. "I caught something!" she mewed to Bubblenose, showing her the toad. "See?" Her first hunt had been successful.

Bubblenose was beyond impressed.
"Wow, good job! You didn't even need my help!" Bubblenose praised her apprentice with a grin on her maw. It wasn't common for apprentices to learn things on the first try, she hadn't expected it to happen. She could already tell that her apprentice was going to be a quick learner, someone that would grow into an excellent warrior.

Bubblenose flicked her tail toward one of the rocks as she said, "We just need to work on your balance a little bit. No worries, though. Why don't you place your toad over by one of the rocks? We'll pick it up before we go back to camp."
What was Bubblenose supposed to do now? Mentoring was harder than she thought.
"Because of the prey shortage, we may not catch a lot today, but we can still try. Why don't you see if you can find something else? Just remember your balance this time." The silver she-cat instructed.

Pour more gasoline on fire, fly again, rising through the flames.
