Follow the reeds [For Thea and Spottedleaf]

Wailingstream stalked ahead of the apprentices, leading them to a shallow stream surrounded by bushes on the edge of Riverclan territory near the four trees. While fishing was a primarily the source of food for Riverclan, it never hurt to know alternate skills, and hunting prey other than fish require fine training. When they reached a water rat that was feasting on some rotten fish, he gestured for the pair to come closer.

"Cloudpaw, Specklepaw, what do you think you should do in this situation?" He asked quietly, keeping one eye on the rat.

"Creep to the rat and pounce on it?" Specklepaw whispered, hoping she was right. Yes, she knew she would probably be wrong, but still? She quietly crept closer to Wailingstream, hoping she was right.

"Team up and make sure the rat dosen't here or sent us?" Cloudpaw suggested. He wanted to be different than Specklepaw's prediction.

"Specklepaw was correct, sneak up and take it down. But you need to be quick, they're faster than you think." Wailingstream nudged Specklepaw closer to the prey. "You got the answer right, you have a go."

Specklepaw sighed with relief, but knew this was gonna be hard. Cloudpaw was the quiet and sneaky one, not her. But she was gonna give this a go. "Be quick." Wailingstream's words repeated in her head as she crept closer and closer to the water rat. She could smell the forest scent it gave off, and pounced. The rat gave a run for it, but it was no match for the apprentice. She bit into its neck and held it triumphantly. She padded to Wailingstream with the rat on her mouth.

Wailingstream was impressed, and gave her points for having the guts to tackle a water rat. His tail twitched and flicked encouragingly as she approached.

"You did well in hunting the rat, but what are some concerns we might have about eating the rat?"

"We shouldn't be allows to eat, because your supposed to be hunting for the clan." Specklepaw laid the rat at Wailingstream's feet.

Cloudpaw sighed, feeling left out. Specklepaw was taking all of the good answers so he wasn't shure what he should answer. SO he just said, "Im going to go with what she said."

Specklepaw took a glance at Cloudpaw. "Think of your own answer!" She wanted to snap at him, but ignored the urge. Cloudpaw was her brother, she didn't want to make him upset by snapping at him.

The grey tom barely held in a laugh at their typical sibling relationship, they really were his sister's children.

"You're both correct. Apprentices are only allowed to eat after the clan has been fed, but really that goes for Warriors as well. Now follow me into the stream, we can see if there's anything worth catching." Wailingstream waded into the shallow waters just deep enough to see clearly out to the stream. There was a silver fish moving beneath the surface, but he wanted to see if the apprentices would spot it. "Do you see anything?"

Specklepaw looked closely and saw a shining silver thing in the stream. "Yes, a silver thing! Over there!" Specklepaw leaned in closer. "I think it's a fish!" Specklepaw accidentally leaned in to far and fell into the stream.

Forgetting about the hunting session Cloudpaw shouted for his sister Specklepaw He was about to jump into the stream after her but realise it probably wasnt best idea for him becase he could not swim.

Specklepaw wailed. "I CANT SWIM!!!" She thought.

Wailingstream dove in without a shred of panic, nudging Cloudpaw aside as he did. Gripping the she-cat's scruff between his teeth, he dragged her out of the water, his webbed paws working over time.

"Did Icetail not teach you how to swim when you were kits?" He asked once they were on dry land incredulously, to think a Riverclan cat didn't know how to swim. His own parents had taught him when he was only a tiny kit in the shallow streams behind the camp. And though he did nearly drown in his youth in the river, by the time he was an apprentice, swimming was second nature. If they didn't know, he'd have to teach them before they did anything involving fishing, or any Riverclan water moves in battles. He couldn't have the pair drowning.

OOC: "Curiosity kills the cat."

"No," Specklepaw shook her head. She felt like a Mousebrain. Her fur was wet and felt cold against her body. Specklepaw shivered and began grooming herself.
