Long Shadows

Sparrowkit, after much time scrambling around, finally find her mother's belly. Aha, sweet success. Happily, she reaped the rewards and drank her first meal.

"So do I..." Ebonyroot mused, wrapping her tail protectively around Badgerkit. She couldn't help but break out a small smile at Mothkit, perhaps... their footsteps weren't the best to follow, though. "They're all wonderful.. but..." her face was swept over once again with concern. She looked at the borage leave for a moment before shoving them away. "Not these... If anything, a batch of Parsley. I don't think we have much of a choice, Icewhisker... No one can know about this." She flicked her ear and looked away, but two WindClan warriors raising her kits? She looked at the four of them curiously and wondered. How could a few lives she hadn't known about till this day mean so much to her in a matter of moments. Every fiber of her body was that of a ShadowClan cat, it made her disgusted with herself, with these kits... yet already she loved them so much.
"Dragonclaw and Wolfpelt..." she wrinkled her nose, as if she smelled something bad.

Badgerkit let out a purr as her mother wraped her tail around her, she felt safe.

Mothkit stumbled forward on unsure paws, and passed her mother up altogether, only to fall at her father's feet and curl sweetly there. Daddy's girl, tsk tsk. Don't you know your mother carried you for nine months?!

IC: Icewhisker purred as he noticed all of his kits acting normal. The only strange thing was Pantherkit kneading his mother's flank, which made the medicine cat want to laugh. He watched Ebonyroot push the borage away, now listening to what she was saying.

"I don't have parsley with me...and I don't want to leave. Something could happen to you. I was thinking the same thing..." he meowed, looking down at the small kit at his paws. He gave her a swift lick on the head and look over at the fluffy ball of ginger fur that was still clueless.

Pantherkit after a few moments of kneading his mother's flank, open his eyes slowly. Icewhisker noticed that they were a brilliant shade of brown, which he knew did not come from any of his family.

Badgerkit raised her head to look at her brother. She also opened her eyes, and they shined a light blue from the light that the barn let in. She let out a small mew and got up and hurried over to Pantherkit.

Ebonyroot laid back down, exhausted. She looked at the Pantherkit with interest. "Brown eyes? ... Hello, there. " she mused, looking at him. Where did he get the from? She gaze traveled to Badgerkit, who also looked around for the first time. They were opening their eyes already? Wow, that's some kind-of talented. "She has your eyes." The she-cat commented, sighing. "I still don't know..."

Sparrowkit climbed over the body of Mothkit contently, the smallest purr coming from her throat. She'd open her eyes when she felt ready.

Badgerkit spotted her sisters. She raced over to them and let out a speak and a purr as she got to Sparrowkit.

Sparrowkit let out a squeak when Badgerkit reached. She batted her paws blindly in the air, aiming gently for her sister's face.

Badgerkit watched Sparrowkit, and let out a purr. She moved her head toward Sparrowkit so that she could landed a blow on her.

Pantherkit watched with large, happy eyes. He was purring all the while, but he didn't join them. The kit was content with where he was.

"I guess she does have my eyes." he murmured with a smile. He watched the kits play fight, wondering if they would be actually fighting one day. The thought of them killing made him shiver, so he shook it off and look at the only tom. Wonder why he's not playing... he thought, turning his gaze to Ebonyroot.

"It's up to you. Since you are the mother. If you want to keep them, that's fine, but I would have to come and visit." he meowed, look at the 4 with a big smile.

Sparrowkit gleefully reached up and bit her arm gently with her soft teeth, licking to relieve the pain and attacking once again. She paid no mind to her brother! There were big sisters to worry about.

Ebonyroot sat up and flicked her ear, "They would have a better life in WindClan..." she said sadly. "I'll help bring them. So, we can talk to Featherstar..." Should they tell the leader the truth though? Who they belonged too? She knew the gray she-cat would trust her, as she was close to the clan on the moors.. She'd rather not she know, Ebonyroot just wanted to speak with her to know for sure they'd be in safe paws... and oh my StarClan! These were her grandkits! The ShadowClan cat gave Icewhisker an astranged look. Did he realize this? Woahness.

Badgerkit let out a playful hiss at Sparrowkit, but then turned to look at her father and mother. What was they talking about? Was their mother leaving them?

OOC: Haha, hiya great-grandma =3

IC: "So we'll take them to WindClan then. Do you want to tell Featherstar? Or shall we say we ran into each other and we found these kits?" he asked, wondering what his leader would think about this. Only then did he realize that she was too young to be a great-grandmother. He let out a small laugh at the thought, and looked at Ebonyroot. Icewhisker could tell by her look that she realized this as well.

Pantherkit looked up at his father when he laughed. He looked at his mother, now actually paying attention to their conversation. I wonder what they are talking about. That was his first real thought since they were born, which was quicker than most kits. It was like they were 3 moons, other than just born.

Ebonyroot flicked her ears, licking Pantherkit sweetly across his head. "Look at Badgerkit, if we were to say a rouge left them behind, do you think she would believe us?" She looked at the small she-kit, such a wonderous combination of the two of them. "I doubt she's that daft, but I suppose we'll have to try and see what will happen..." Pride and shame both said to deny, deny. Strange. They usually never got along.

Sparrowkit rolled over Badgerkit, pausing when she realized her sister was no longer fighting back. Was something wrong?

Ebonyroot bent down and picked the two said kits up by the scruff shakily.

Badgerkit let out a squeak as her mother picked her up with her sister. She looked over at her sister and started to purr when she saw how much she could see from up here.
