Long Shadows

Ebonyroot walked into the shattered and weather-worn old building, the moonlight shining quietly through the cracks. Mice and few other creatures could be running around, but she couldn't be bothered to mind. There was a sharp pain in her belly, worse then any ache she had ever had. The she-cat let out a quiet moan and laid down in the hay. StarClan, she just came for some herbs, what happened?

Icewhisker, who had been looking for borage, followed Ebonyroot's scent into the Abandoned Barn.

"Ebonyroot? What are you doing he- Ebonyroot! What's wrong!" he meowed, running to the she-cat that was laying in hay.

Her eyes flew wide open. What was he doing here? "I- Icewhisker. I don't know..." Ebonyroot shut her eyes again and curled into a ball-like position, trying to ease the pain from her swollen belly.

Icewhisker barely noticed Ebonyroot's swollen belly. What! But how! I never thought it would happen...oh no...No one can know... he thought after figuring it out. He started yelling at himself in his head, as he took deep breaths.

"Actions do have consequences...Ebonyroot, I know you have always said this and have never wanted this to be said to you, but I need you to push." he meowed calmly, even though his heart was beating fast. He hoped that the she-cat would understand what he meant.

ooc:: There are so many wrong jokes I could make right now.... xD

Ebonyroot's eyes widened and she looked up at the tom, her entire body chilling; she in fact could have sworn her hear had stopped beating for a few good moments. "Uh- W-what?" She stumbled out. "No, that's not possible-" she couldn't finished, clenching her teeth together and doubling over again. ow.

"You know it's true. Now please, just trust me." he whispered, watching her curl in pain. He was waiting until she stopped curling, so he could help her, well...give birth?

Ebonyroot felt a few tears come into her eyes, shaking her head. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry..." The few drops turned into steady streams as she started repeating these words to herself as she dug her claws into the ground, pushing and blocking out the world until the first kit came out.

Icewhisker smiled as he pressed down on her belly, happy she finally cooperated. He looked at his first kit. It was a fluffy, ginger tabby. His eyes were closed so he couldn't see what the eye colour was.

"You know what to do." he meowed before picking up the kit and passing it to Ebonyroot. He could tell it wasn't over, so he began pressing her belly again.

The ginger tabby let out as small mew as he was passed to his mother. He was very cold, due to the fact that he hadn't been licked yet.

Ebonyroot let out a low moan through her teeth as the pressure was put on her belly, though she slowly recovered and looked down at the kit. A tom. She licked it slowly backwards until it let out a small mew. The she-cat out a small sigh of relief and laid back down, continuing her pleas to StarClan. "I'm so, so sorry..." She dug her head into the ground and pushed another kit out, and Icewhisker have damn well better take care of this one, because she didn't feel like moving at the moment. She could only glance back at it... one smaller then the first, black with strange gray and orange stripes.

The small kit let out a mew as it moved toward Ebonyroot's tail, hoping it world warm it up.

Icewhisker looked at the second kit. A she-kit. He picked her up and put her by his paws, licking her so she would warm up.

Ebonyroot look at the small kit, flicked her tail away.. She looks awfully close to be both of- OH GOD, PAIN. The she-cat let out a small yowl and quickly pushed out a another small kit, a brown tabby with black stripes. "When will this be over?!" she shouted to Icewhisker.

The little kit mewed and tried to get away from Icewhisker and over to Ebonyroot. She soon gave up, and sat there as he licked her.

When the first kit was warm enough, he set her beside her brother. He let out a sigh and began licking the other kit, which was also a she-kit. I hope that tom's not the only one... he though, while licking the 3rd.

The kit moved next to her brother and started to purr, her tail flicked as she cuddled next to him and her mom.
