Subject: Fishing for Conversation [Cindersky] Tue 12 Nov 2024 - 18:53
The sky was clear of clouds and the sun was shining brightly... And it offered little warmth. Swandive's pelt was thick, but to say she was displeased by the change in weather was an understatement. At least today she had Cindersky on the patrol with her. She'd allowed Burnetpaw to take the afternoon to himself after a morning of sparring. The deputy's kit was progressing in his training, slowly but surely. She expected that Cindersky would ask if she wasn't already keeping tabs on the pair, but Swandive would let her bring it up first.
Instead, her blue eyes were fixed on the river, watching for the flicker of silver as the water rippled. A pale gray paw darted forward, hooking the fish and pulling it onto solid ground. "Foxdung, I didn't miss the cold." Swandive grumbled, shaking droplets of water from her paw.

Cindersky
I loved you...
Cindersky was as much in her element as any other RiverClan cat could claim to be, if not moreso now with the chilly weather setting in. She flicked her eyes up to acknowledge what Swandive had said, keeping to silence as a fish bobbed its way toward her in the water. Brazen little thing. Unfortunate all the same, because it became what would be someones dinner in the bat of an eye.
"I would take the chill to greenleafs sun any day," She said, picking up the silvery-pink scaled fish and bringing it over to their slowly growing pile. Fishing patrols were better with less on them, she always said. "Was it this time last cycle that we were getting ready to leave the territories? It feels like a lifetime ago."

"Swimming offers no pleasure in this chill." Swandive mewed, "Though I suppose it's nice to not sweat our tails off, either." She conceded. This chill was tolerable, at least. The vicious cold she had experienced at the lake last leafbare... The stars could keep that cursed weather to themselves.
"Was it really that long ago? Sometimes I feel like we only just returned home." What a terrible leaf-bare that had been, truly. "Maybe it's too soon to say anything... But I have no desire to leave our territory for anything like that ever again. Sometimes I wonder what the lake would have been like under different circumstances, but this is home."
