Subject: Cousins, Friends? [Waspswarm] Thu 17 Oct 2024 - 9:20
The leaf-fall air was crisp and cold, though Honeybee didn't mind as much as as a shorter-furred cat might have probably. The day's patrols had just been organized, and she was eager to get going.
Spotting her patrolmate, Honeybee raised her tail in greeting. "Ready to go?" Honeybee asked, shifting from paw to paw in excitement. Like her, Waspswarm was one of the clan's newest warriors.

Waspswarm dipped her head to Honeybee in greeting, a friendly grin plastered across her face. Admittedly, Honeybee was probably the closest to a friend outside of her immediate family and perhaps Wolfstar, now that she was a warrior.
"Let's move out, cousin." She replied with a tap of her tail to the other warrior's shoulder. The pair filed out of the camp into the territory in comfortable silence. Once they were away from curious ears, Waspswarm glanced at her companion.
"Kind of cool our name's match in a way, huh? Two stinging creatures, fierce and helpful in their own right. Maybe when Hornetpaw becomes a warrior, we invite him to our little group. Maybe train together as a unit. Imagine the legends they'd tell!" Her smile was genuine. Recently, she had been in a fantastic mood. Really, she was thriving. Now that her training was done and she had more freedom, it was time to establish relationships and bonds.
"It took a while, I'm glad I finally made it, though. Honeybee... I wasn't expecting that from grandma, but I like it." She grinned, "And Waspswarm... That's kind of terrifying if you really think about it. Fitting, though. Whenever Hornetpaw joins us..." She trailed off with a grin.
The young warrior had fallen silent, distracted from their conversation by the soft rustling of the leaves above, bright blue eyes lifting to find a wren settling onto a branch. WIth a flick of her tail to Waspswarm, she leapt into the trees. WIth a powerful leap, white paws pinned the little bird to the branch, and she cut off any cry of alarm it might have tried to squeak out quickly before dropping back to the ground. "Sorry." She mewed, but Waspswarm would understand her enthusiasm, right?
"What do you think his name would be, I mean, when he returns anyways." And he would, eventually, right? He had to. Nevermind it had been moons since she and Firepaw had looked for him. But Honeybee couldn't bring herself to lose hope either. If Riverclan's missing warriors could return, so could Skyclan's, right?
Honeybee has attempted to catch a bird for -4 ep. Catch successful.
Waspswarm shot her cousin a fierce grin. "Wolfstar knew what she was doing. I'm just a swarm of needle pointed, blood thirsty buggy predators." Her voice died out before she continued as she followed Honeybee's line of sight and spotted the prey. With a predator's training, she went utterly still so she didn't mess up the other warrior's hunt and only letting out a breath once her cousin was on the ground with the bird.
"Nice catch!" She said with admiration, nodding to the other warrior. Waspswarm enjoyed the fact she wasn't the only one who could jump like that. "To answer your question, though, he could be Hornetsting maybe, or Hornetcloud to match my name." She began to pad away to continue walking deeper into the territory.
"Hornetclaw? A little out of our iteration range though... I think Hornetsting would be the best bet when he gets back." There would be a 'when', right? Why were so many cats disappearing recently? She glanced up to the tree branches above her head.
"Race?" She suddenly said, desperate to change the conversation.
"Yeah. Honestly I think she chooses good names for most of us. Though I'm not so sure about Hickorysmoke... Don't tell him I said that." She added quickly. "Hornetsting would fit in with us." She agreed. Her thoughts of names were quick to disappear at Waspswarm's next words, though. "A race? Alright, you're on." She grinned, "Where to, the creek? Or maybe the great ridge?" Waspswarm was likely to be the faster of the two of them... But Honeybee wasn't about to let that doubt show on her face.
