Another kit ready to become an apprentice. Stars knew Skyclan needed the growth. He climbed Tallbranch early in the morning, hoping to beat the heat for this one.
"All cats old enough to climb a tree gather beneath the Tallbranch for a clan meeting!"
Waspkit shoved her way out of the nursery, her striking pelt gleaming in the early morning sun. Sitting in the front row, the molly cocked her head. Foxpaw had just been made an apprentice, so surely she would be too soon.
The clan gathered, as had the kit whose ceremony this was for. Falconmoon's eyes landed on Waspkit, hearing of her fiery personality from the queens in the nursery. "Waspkit step forward. You have reached the age of six moons and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From today until the day you earn your warrior name, you will be known as Wasppaw. Wolfstar, the leader of Skyclan, will be your mentor."Behave for my mother or I will personally give you a thrashing. He left that part out, even though he knew full well his mother could handle an apprentice on her own. He waited for them to acquaint before he departed the branch, concluding the meeting.
Wolfstar sat beneath the shade of the tallbranch as Falconmoon called the clan together for a ceremony, a tired smile on her expression. It was good to see the clan grow after so much recent loss, but she worried for the future. She wished more than anything that she could keep her clan safe, but that seemed to be proven wrong at every turn, recently. Waspkit was called forward, though Wolfstar had trouble mustering the sense of joy she had once felt for apprentice ceremonies.
When her name was called, the tabby and white leader strode forward. "Congratulations, Wasppaw." Wolfstar smiled, gently touching the apprentice's nose with her own, "Get your nest set up in your new den. We begin training at dawn." If they started early enough they should be able to get ahead of the vengeful greenleaf sun... Hopefully.
