OATFLUFFare you going to age with grace? he/him - t3 windclan warrior
The rain only seemed to pelt down harder as the trio of toms reached the camp's entrance. Oatfluff's jaw was sore from scruffing the tiny kit, and his flanks were heaving with exhaustion. The kit wasn't heavy by any means, but the efforts of traversing the moor when it was all muddy and slick like this were enough to face alone; with a sick kit in his jaws and the need to hurry, hurry, hurry, he was exhausted. He was soaked to the skin and covered in mud and really not very easy on the eyes like this, but he swallowed his pride as he rushed into camp and swerved toward the medicine den. Oh, let Hemlockfox be in his den. He was sure the tom would be - he didn't seem to be the biggest fan of rain or getting wet or much in general - but it would make things more difficult if he had to track the medic down.
The stout warrior's pace slowed as he neared the little burrow in the ground. "Hemlockfox? Are you in there? We need help here!" His normally warm voice now carried a sense of urgency, sharp and gruff, even as it was muffled by fur. The tiny rogue kit gave a cough as if to punctuate his words. Oatfluff set him down gently between his paws and tucked him close to his belly as he stood in the entrance to the den. He knew enough by now not to enter without permission, especially all muddy and gross like this. "Hemlock?"
Hemlockfox was miserable. He'd never much cared for rain back in SkyClan's sheltered forests but, out here on the open moor, there was nothing to protect him from the uncomfortably humid storms. This weather also made his herbs go bad faster and thanks to WindClan's insistence on not using dens, his stores were getting damp. The small, covered burrow in the ground did little to protect his herbs either. The dry soil drank up rain like it'd never seen it before. Grumbling with annoyance, the seal point tom was rearranging his herbs, stooped over them in the cramped space, when he heard Oatfluff's familiar call. Great StarClan. What now?
Blue eyes flashed in the dim lighting as Hemlockfox turned to face the fluffy brown warrior, nose scrunched at the unwelcome scent of rogue on him. "Oatfluff." He grunted; lip curled. "What in StarClan's name is that smell?" A sour sort of scent permeated through the small space and, as he peered out at Oatfluff, the source became quite clear. A rogue kit was curled up against the tom's belly, shivering and coughing weakly. He had half a mind to send Oatfluff away and tell him to bother some other cat with the kit, but one look and he could see the little scrap of fur would hardly survive the trip to one of the other clans for tending to.
With a sigh, he hauled himself to his paws and briefly examined the young kit. "Alright. I'll take care of things from here, you may go." With a flick of his tail, he dismissed Oatfluff and dipped his head to grab the kit. Carefully, Hemlockfox carried the ill rogue deeper into the burrow where it was warmer and, more importantly, dry. "Let's see..." He muttered under his breath as he sniffed over the kit. "Are you awake?" Obviously, he was awake, but was he lucid?

Lucid would be a generous term. The kitten seemed to fight between being awake and fading as one would balance on a thin fence. The only thing that genuinely hurt was the aching in his muscles as the kitten trembled. Everything else seemed to have faded into an overall haze of pain. Bear opened his mouth to speak, peering into this unfamiliar cat's face. "Aye." A small squeak was all he could muster. While the air was warmer inside this den, the cold from his sopping wet pelt kept him from enjoying its warmth. "...am I going to die?" Came a whisper. Bear's blue kitten eyes struggled to maintain gaze.
Hemlockfox narrowed his icy blue eyes at the small, trembling kit and shook his head. "You won't die. Don't be dramatic." He doubted the thin scrap of fur understood anything he was saying, though. His eyes were unfocused and his skin warm with a fever. Despite that, he was trembling - soaked through to the bone from the rain pouring outside. "You'll be alright." He added in a somewhat more reassuring tone. With a flick of his tail, he turned to the back of the den and quickly gathered some herbs for the young kit. Despite his calm demeanor, he felt anything but. If he didn't get some medicine into this kit soon, he might not make it.
Even if he did, the little thing was probably hypothermic. Young kits like him weren't supposed to be away from their mothers this long. Paws and teeth filled with everything he needed, Hemlockfox returned to the kit's side and nudged him gently with a paw. "Stay awake for me. I need you to eat these - they'll taste good and make you feel better." He presented a chewed mixture of juniper berries and tansy to the kit, honey drizzled over the top. He'd have to collect more honey later, but it was alright if it meant ensuring the kit's survival.
