Hemlockfox was determined not to be intimidated by the position of guiding this particular apprentice to the Moonstone. As Tigerstar's son and Rapidfire's apprentice, young Leopardpaw was connected to plenty of powerful cats, but aside from that, he wasn't anything special. Luckily, the apprentice didn't seem terribly high and mighty about himself...just about WindClan as a whole. So, the medicine cat already knew Leopardpaw wouldn't be a very big fan of him.
It hardly mattered, but he really didn't have the energy to endure a long walk with a snooty apprentice. Already impatient, Hemlockfox approached the young tom and jostled him with a paw. "Get up Leopardpaw. I'll be taking you to the Moonstone tonight." He stared for several moments as the younger cat readied himself, then turned and, with a flick of his tail, gestured for him to follow as he led the way out of the camp and towards Highstones. Thankfully, the sky was clear and the moor calm, so the trip should be easy.
--(Timeskip)--
As he'd expected, the journey was swift and, for the most part, uneventful. Hemlockfox descended into Mothermouth, his paws steady on the familiar path, and muttered a vague reassurance to Leopardpaw in case he was feeling uncertain. Within moments, the tunnel opened up into the vast cavern where the Moonstone glittered in the center. "This is the Moonstone." Though it was obvious, some cats weren't very bright, and he wouldn't be surprised if Leopardpaw was one of them. "Just lie down, put your nose to the stone, and StarClan will come to you."
He had never been fond of Hemlockfox, knowing that the medicine cat-- WindClan's only medicine cat-- was born in SkyClan of all places. But StarClan had apparently spoken to Father and this medicine cat-- as well as the former medicine cat, Daisyfang-- about their wishes for Hemlockfox to come to WindClan to serve as their healer. Well, if it was StarClan's will, there was nothing he could do, nor was he about to question Father's words. Still, he could dislike the medicine cat for his awful attitude and even worse expressions. Leopardpaw held back a hiss as the impatient medicine cat jabbed him with a paw, then left without a word. What an arrogant furball!
_______
So this was StarClan's glory. Leopardpaw's eyes opened wide as he took in the Moonstone, in complete awe of the moon-lit crystal. He ignored Hemlockfox's nonsense completely as he stepped forward, bathing in the Moonstone's light. This was where he belonged; in StarClan's light. Had they known that he would come here today? And who would be there to greet him? A leader of WindClan from many moons ago, ready to share with him their gloriful rule... or perhaps a Medicine Cat, filled with wisdom and knowledge. Or perhaps a mighty warrior, who will teach him the ways one might achieve victory. The black apprentice was trembling with excitement as he touched his nose to the cold stone, taking a deep breath before he closed his eyes.
"You're the pretender, what if I say I'll never surrender?"
Locustcall ShadowClan | He/Him
Locustcall didn't expect to end up with stars in his pelt. He had not been the most virtuous nor the most apologetic, but here he was. Perhaps the stars had forgiven him, maybe he had laid low enough not to earn their ire in the first place. Though, what surprised him most was that he was called to be a guide for a young cat. This would be his first visitor, one that reminded him much of himself when he was young. Loyal to his clan and the blood running through his veins, prideful and dedicated. Perhaps their paws would follow similar steps in life.
The tortie tom stepped into view, his torn and tattered pelt pushing through the long grasses of Starclan's plains. "I am Locustcall, once a warrior of Shadowclan. I am here to offer guidance and advice, so speak your questions now." He sat, his amber eyes glancing the wirey tom over. There was no doubt of his Windclan blood...

A ShadowClan Warrior? This, he had not expected. He could feel disappointment well up in him-- why an ordinary warrior, of all cats, and not even a WindClan warrior? He didn't even know the name from any stories-- but he quickly shook it away. StarClan must have had it's reasons for sending this Warrior to him. He shouldn't question what the stars had in mind for him. Perhaps, there was lessons he could learn from this Warrior that he could learn from no other. Answers to his questions, even.
"My blood." The most important thing he had, the very thing that made him as brilliant as he was. "It's pure, isn't it? That's what made me-- and my kin-- as strong and brilliant as we are. Because our ancestors-- and StarClan rewards those who remain loyal to the Code, right?" He had to be sure. There was no questioning it, of course, but if he had StarClan's word... He'd know that he was going down the right path. That he was destined for greatness, and that he had to purge any who didn't abide by the Code. It would be StarClan's will.
"You're the pretender, what if I say I'll never surrender?"
Locustcall ShadowClan | He/Him
Locustcall offered the young cat a grin full of pride. If only he were a Shadowclan warrior, even an apprentice had a brighter mind than some of the full adults in the clan he used to call home. "Exactly," he purred. "Starclan has the power to strike those down who break the code, why wouldn't they reward loyal warriors as well? Your blood is not only pure, but you have the blood of a leader, someone blessed by the stars themselves. I bet you'll do great things if you continue as you are, remaining loyal to your clan and to the code."
The large tom would have been content to leave it there, but he had met much adversity in life for his beliefs. He didn't want Leopardpaw to buckle under that pressure. "You must hold onto your convictions. This idea of blood is... contentious, but I've seen mixed blood and rogues have ruinous effects before, both in life and in death. Don't let others disuade you."

And there it was, the confirmation of his ideals from the stars themselves. A small breath came out of him, a mixture of relief and delight. He was right after all-- of course he was, he had simply been following the Code. His siblings, however much he loved them, were fools for believing otherwise. The Code was what marked the glorious path of a true Warrior, and to doubt it... well, they'd be nothing but rogues! The warning of such foul creatures made his lips curl. Of course, he had grew up hearing stories of vile scum that crawled into the Clans and tore them apart, but there was too stories of other Clan cats that broke the Code and shattered the lives of many. Those cats... they must have been tainted by unpure blood. Creatures of Code-breakers will only ever be Code-breakers themselves.
"Locustcall." Something about what he was about to ask seemed wrong, but surely, that was just hesitation. Hesitation that should be quelled if he were to fully serve his Clan and the stars. "If StarClan is truly against Code-breakers... then why do so many walk among the living realm?" He had to understand StarClan's will. Something wasn't adding up, and that hurt his head. "ThunderClan's new medicine cat was a former RiverClan cat, who I heard was born from a forbidden romance-- if that's true, how was such scum chosen to be a medicine cat?" ThunderClan's business wasn't his, but this question was only to answer something that was his business; WindClan's current medicine cat, a creature he dare not even call a clanmate.
