LILYVALLEY
If we did what was easy
With so many kits becoming apprentices, some warriors have had to double up on apprentices, and Lilyvalley had been one of the cats to take a second one. And apparently, this was also her niece. Briarkit had said her father had been Echomist... that still made her heart ache. Maybe it was good that she was getting the chance to bond with his kits. Maybe Sablestrike had just been doing Lilyvalley a favor.
Finally she stopped, looking back at the two apprentices behind her. "Alright, the land here is drier, so it should be easier for you two to learn how to hunt here. Watch me, and then I will let you guys have a go, okay?"
Lilyvalley took the time to scent the air, her maw open as she searched for prey. She could smell a mouse, and after a moment, spotted the critter searching for seeds by the base of one of the pine trees. Slowly, Lilyvalley began to creep forward. With a lunge, she clamped her jaws around the tiny rodent, and the hunt was over.
She turned back to her apprentices. "Alright. I want you two to try to do what I just did. I'll correct you where needed, and we'll see what you guys can catch."
Lilyvalley is attempting to catch a mouse. Attempt was successful!

Despite the warrior instructing them to watch her hunt, Willowpaw decided he didn't need to. Hunting for a cat was just second nature, wasn't it? Why did he need to learn to hunt when it was in his blood? The tom turned to face Cardinalpaw. She would be joining him and Lilyvalley for their training sessions from now on. He wasn't sure if he liked the idea of having to share his mentor with another apprentice, but for now he could play nice. "My name's Willowpaw," he whispered, "what's yours? Bet I can catch more prey than you today, I'd bet you anything in all of Shadowclan!" The young tom was cut off from making more challenges to the molly as Lilyvalley came back. Willowpaw snapped to attention, nodding his head slowly in an attempt to make it look like he had been following instructions. "Me first!"
Willowpaw set to work stalking through the pine grove, scenting nothing but stale twoleg scent and metals. He couldn't understand how Lilyvalley had scented anything else here, but where is nose failed him, his eyes wouldn't. The tom caught the flash of something hopping among the feet of the frozen monsters, but before he could charge at it the sound of wings distracted him. A bright red bird thought it wise to fly over him, so the tom leapt at it. His claws just barely managed to snag feathers off of it, though the meaty part of his catch fled. Willowpaw fell to the ground, letting off a wet smack and knocking the air from his body.
