FOXKIT "there's nothing that i'd take back" they/he - windclan kit
It was early sunhigh, and Foxkit was crouched by the gorse walls surrounding the nursery. Their siblings had scattered in all different directions upon waking - a few had gone off to play mossball, one or two had gone to bother Nectarflower and Brightripple, and Foxkit hadn't seen where the others had gone. Most likely they were tearing up Tigerstar or Hemlockfox's den. The litter had proved to be a nuisance almost immediately upon its birth - and Foxkit couldn't be excluded from that - but they were at least behaving today.
Of course, it was only because something trivial had pulled his attention. The ginger-furred tabby wasn't just staring off into space - no, his gaze was entirely trained on something creeping across the ground in front of his paws. His sharp yellow gaze held a mixture of curiosity as he watched the little creature go. It was small and shiny and colorful, and Foxkit was fascinated. He'd seen them in the nursery before, though they usually skittered away when he went after them. This one...seemed oddly content to just walk in circles, shifting direction at a mere touch of a paw, and Foxkit was beginning to think they'd made a friend for life. What had Nectarflower called them again? Beetles. Oh, they loved beetles. "I'm gonna name you Shinykit." The lanky kit purred, placing a paw down once more so the colorful insect wouldn't stray too far away. They were much too preoccupied in their new best friend to hear a set of tiny pawsteps approaching behind them.

Much to his displeasure, when Leopardkit had gone looking for his sibling, he found them hunched over a brightly-coloured insect and messing with the creature as if it were a toy. The black tom-kit's lip curled in disgust as he watched, wondering what could possibly be going through Foxkit's mind as he played with that gross insect. It was insightly, having a descendant of such high blood just tussling about with a lowly insect as if they were friends... equals, even. Leopardkit wanted to rush up to Foxkit immediately and crush that beetle, but he knew his sibling wouldn't understand. They'd get upset instead, and Leopardkit didn't want his sibling to be upset, especially not because of him, even if what they were doing had been horrible. No, he'd have to approach this slowly. "Foxkit," He greeted, slipping to his sibling's side while eyeing the beetle from the corner of his eyes. "What are you doing?"

They didn't tear their gaze off the beetle as Leopardkit approached. His words didn't sway their attention, and they didn't give any indication that they'd even heard him. There wasn't even a spare flick of an ear or a twitch of a whisker. But after a moment, they finally realized they should respond. "Hey, Leo! I'm playing with my new friend. His name is Shinykit!" The words were spoken as though they made perfect sense, like it would immediately clear things up for Leopardkit. They finally turned, meeting his gaze with eager yellow eyes. "Do you wanna play with him? Or, ooh, I can find you a beetle of your own!"

Stars, Foxkit had named that thing?! Leopardkit was torn between laughing in his sibling's face at the absurdity of it all and curling his lips in disgust at the chosen name. Shinykit... it gave the same feeling as the name Pinkkit or Sparklekit might, which was to say not very fitting for a warrior. Not that the beetle would ever be considered for a warrior.. "Oh... what's the appeal of your new... friend, if I may ask?" Leopardkit questioned while eyeing the bug with a half-disgusted expression. He was trying his best to be welcoming about his sibling's peculiar interest, really, but making friends with bugs were... unsightly at best. But maybe he should offer Foxkit the benefit of the doubt. Maybe his sibling had just found a new sort of bug that could... spit fire or something?
