thymelight
"she'll walk with springtime wherever she goes."
t3 medicine cat | skyclan | she/her
The gifts of motherhood had finally been bestowed unto Thymelight. She had never felt such a fierce protectiveness before, a desire to shake the entire world if it meant that the small bundles of fur at her belly would always be safe and sound. The tabby was fearful, though. She could yell and scream all she wanted, but that wouldn’t stop the forest from taking one of them if it truly wanted to. It made Thymelight feel so incredibly helpless. Foxes, wolves, dogs. It seemed as if SkyClan was always at risk.
Still, she silently promised to give her kits a life full of love. They would never know the loneliness that she felt from losing her blood ties. They would always have her in their corner no matter what, someone that would love them through thick and thin.
Hickorykit was a fluffy tri-color tom kit that greatly resembled his father. Peatkit was shorthaired with a tabby facial pattern that affectionately reminded Thymelight of her own. Palekit was fawn and white while Snowkit’s pelt perfectly aligned with his prefix. The final kit was the first one that Thymelight had named. Her dear friend had deserved to live a long, full life. Honeydew would’ve ascended to leadership if life wasn’t so unpredictable and cruel, and her name would live on through Thymelight’s litter. Thus, the last kit came to be named Honeykit.
They were her children by blood, and she felt her chest tighten with overwhelming emotion whenever she gazed down upon them. The she-cat felt as if she was momentarily suspended in time. Just for a moment, life was perfect… and it wouldn’t be fair to her kits if she spent all of her time worrying. It was difficult to mourn lives while focusing on raising new ones, but it was a challenge that she would have to face.

The cream and white kit squirmed uncomfortably as she began exploring her new environment. Loathe though she was to wriggle away from the warmth of her mother, and littermates, the newly named Palekit was overwhelmed by the scents of her home. She wouldn't go far, she would just wriggle herself in a way that turned her to the open air, small movements adding up as she rolled around. As soon as her excitement began, however, it ended. Palekit was a newborn, after all, and without the strength to explore she began to once again wriggle towards her mother. A warm light in her darkness.

Snowkit was a quiet kit, calmly sitting in the middle of all of his siblings while he nursed. He made very little noise when he was born and he rarely made much of a fuss at all. He was as quiet as his name's sake. Once his belly was full, he curled up against the warmth and drifted off into a careless slumber.
Falconmoon brought a vole into the nursery and set it down beside Thymelight. Seeing more of his kits alive and well and so small made him almost dizzy. He was happy, but like Thymelight, had a shard of ice in his heart as he worried what the future would bring. To the Dark Forest with those dogs and the forest in general. They had no right to rob him of his joy, nor Thymelight's.
"I thought you might be hungry. I can bring more, if you want." He offered softly to his mate. He sat down quietly and slowly like he might break something as he stared at the five little bundles at Thymelight's belly. I will not lose anymore of you. No. More. He silently vowed.

Hickorykit Kit | Skyclan | He/Him
A small smokey blonde kit fought against the bodies next to him, squirming and screaming as he fumbled through the crowd. His mother’s scent was a warm welcome, but the young tom named Hickorykit was not satisfied. He wiggled his way towards his mother’s face, more scents hit his nose and he let out a sneeze.
A musky scent and something else he couldn’t yet put his paw on. He grumbled and he pushed under his mother’s arm. Warmth and milk were hard for him to resist, and he soon settled in and got a full belly. His adventures could wait until he could at least see what the yucky smells were. The recently-named Honeykit squirmed at her mother's belly, trying to get comfortable among the mass of squirming kits around her. She was warm and fed, and that was all that really mattered to her. Blissfully unaware of Thymelight and Falconmoon's fears, the fluffy bundle of mottled fur pressed against her mother's pelt, a yawn escaping her.

Eyes shut peacefully to the new world around him, Peatkit didn't move. Didn't squeak or squeal. His cream tummy was full and beginning to bulge from the insane amount of milk he had just consumed. Peatkit was warm, well-fed, and content in his curled up position against his mothers front leg.
He could smell another scent that mixed with his mom's... Perhaps it belonged to his dad? He liked it, whatever this scent was. He liked the soft voice that accompanied it.
