Larkshine Tier 3 Warrior | Shadowclan | She/Her
The moon was hanging high in the sky before Larkshine woke up; she had been out later than normal that morning and so she had slept in. She stepped outside the warrior’s den and started searching for her apprentice. Her plan was to do some more hunting training since their first one didn’t go so well. Her gaze landed on the small calico, who seemed to be engaged in conversation with a kit or another apprentice.
Larkshine ventured out in front of Briarpaw and flicked her tail, signaling that the young molly should follow and then she disappeared into the underbrush. She sat waiting with her eyes closed and her jaws slightly open. She wanted to take in as much as she could so she wouldn’t be caught of guard, again. Briarpaw had been telling one of the other apprentices about her recent sparring session, but when Larkshine had approached she was quick to say goodbye to her fellow 'paw and go scampering after her mentor with excitement.
Following her mentor into the undergrowth, Briarpaw watcher her sit with her mouth slightly parted. Bright eyes watched her curiously for a moment before her own jaws parted and the apprentice breathed in. The scent of marsh and Shadowclan was dominant, of course, but she thought she could make out other scents too. Maybe they would have more luck today.

Larkshine’s ears swiveled backwards as Briarpaw joined her side. The warrior’s eyes remained closed, and her jaw still slightly opened. A faint hint of stench lingered in the air, which meant a predator was nearby. Her eyes opened slightly as she scanned the nearby area.
A familiar croaking drew her away from her worrying and Larkshine dropped down into a crouch. She rocked back and forth on her hunches shakily before leaping forward at the frog. Her paws closed around it and she lifted one to quickly dispatch the frog, but instead her paws were around a rock.
A confused look crossed her face and she looked beside her and there sat the frog, just a hair length away. She growled and swatted at the frog, but it quickly hopped into the marsh before any contact was made. Larkshine looked back to Briarpaw, ‘She probably thinks I’m a failure…’ She thought with a huff before walking back to the young molly.

Briarpaw watched as her mentor went for a frog, she could hear the creature's calls not far off. She watched as her mentor stalked forward, taking note of how Larkshine moved.
Her prey proved smart enough to escape, and Briarpaw ducked her head. Catching a rock must have felt so embarrassing when you were trying to teach an apprentice to hunt... She would simply have to take it as a lesson of what not to do.
Determined to do better, Briarpaw was quick to recognize the scent of frog - possibly even the same one that had scurried off from Larkshine's hunt. The calico and tabby apprentice carefully crept forward, and when she thought she was close enough, leaped. Paws landed squarely, feeling the strange texture of the frog's skin as her claws flexed. Leaning forward, Briarpaw quickly bit down, cutting off any chance the frog had of escape. Catch dangling from her jaws, she turned toward her mentor with a bright grin.
Briarpaw has attempted to catch a frog. Catch successful.

Larkshien had gone to find her own prey, and Briarpaw was quick to follow in her mentor's pawsteps, sniffing out a small rodent - vole maybe. Carefully, she dropped into a crouch and stalked forward, leaping when she was close. Her jaws closed around the vole's tiny neck, and a quick movement was all it took to have the prey dangling limp from her jaws.
Briarpaw has attempted to catch a rodent for -3 ep. Catch successful!

Larkshine smiled as her apprentice showed her up, what a lucky cat! She spotted a mouse near by and quickly dispatched it with ease. Things seemed to be looking up for the molly and she breathed a sigh of relief.

Her mentor caught something, though Briarpaw didn't see what, more focused on her own hunt. There was a critter rooting around the base of a pine tree nearby... The apprentice leapt forward without thought. Fangs caught the little rodent by the throat, and she turned to bury it with her previous catch.
Briarpaw attempted to catch a vole for -2 ep. Catch successful.

“This was a good hunt for you Briarpaw! We should head back to camp and get these on the kill pile.” Larkshine mewed as she grabbed her mouse and Briarpaw’s frog.
