| The stars were cold.
It was the first thing Sparrowpaw had noticed since she arrived here so many moons ago. They shone in bright brilliance around her, danced in the rivers, and flew in the sky. Everything around was dusted by them, some seemed entirely made of them. The ancient trees were much taller than those she knew on the ground. To her, it felt like they never stopped growing. Looming over everything.
She climbed one once. Now that she was in StarClan, she felt it would make little difference if she fell. Her heart had made its home in her throat halfway up the length of it, and she had come back down. Other SkyClan cats in StarClan had no problems with the heights, but her heart ached when she thought of everything falls had taken from her. Echoflame, Starlingpaw... even Sedgestrike had confessed to her that he had fallen when he was killed. She looked down silently at her paws.
Dark mottled fur had become dusted in the same stardust as those who dwelled in its forests. Her father's did not. He had decided to stay in the mist. To atone for everything he had done. She wasn't even sure she could forgive him... so it was for the best. Sometimes, she wondered silently if that's where she belonged. Her heart ached to think of SkyClan. She had done everything she could and had given them every ounce of her strength. The apprentice she had attacked for his trespass had gone on with his life.
Her pelt bristled in the silence. Her green eyes looked down from the ridge she had found. It overlooked a large swathe of the starlit valley that many StarClan cats used to hunt or play. There was one cat... one she needed to talk to. Only one cat who might be able to help her from the things she could no longer avoid. A white paw reached up silently towards her throat. Where the wound still split the fur of her neck. There was no pain in it, no blood. Much like the scars on the right side of her face, they carried the weight of everything that had happened in her life.
The paw lowered back to the ground. Her body slowly rose from the ground and began to walk solemnly towards the nearest gathering of starry cats. It was time to find Tinystar. ______________________________________ Kestrelpaw ♀ Marshkit ♂ |

| Having been resting in a valley-type area with his kin, Tinylegs' white and grey pelt shimmered among the stars. Perhaps death wasn't a good thing, per say, but being able to be reunited with family and friends had made it all worth it to the former leader. For the most part, he'd paid his dues and had lived a long life, and he now had a full appreciation of how wonderful of a place StarClan was. If only the young cats down among the living were able to understand that more.
Of course, him having apologized internally and to some of his clanmates would never make up for the atrocities he'd committed, but he supposed it was a step in the right direction. Now that he thought about it, the short tom knew for a fact that there were some cats that he hadn't specifically gotten a chance to apologize to. Perhaps someday he'd be able to find them among the stars and make things right.
Noticing some-cat making their way over to him, the small-legged tom peered through the group of cats to instantly recognize the familiar pelt as she got closer. Sparrowpaw; the apprentice who's life he'd so easily taken from her those many moons ago. It was clearly fate that she found him at such a time of recollection.
As she continued to approach, his icy blue eyes began to well up with tears as the memories of that fateful day ran through his mind. He'd been so ignorant, so stupid. She was probably here to tell him off for all he'd done to her and her family, and rightfully so if that was her purpose. Well, what better time to apologize than while he'd been lamenting. ______________________________________ ~ ice ice baby |
