The border patrol that morning had reported, for the fifth time that quater moon, scents of dogs close to the RiverClan border. Dogs were ferocious beasts, and after the wolf attack at the lake, Sootstorm didn't want an event where they stormed the camp and took everyone by surprise. It was best to deal with the problem before it grew; who knew how many more dogs would flock to WindClan territory if they left these current beasts to their own devices? He had picked out his best fighters, as well as a few apprentices at their mentors' requests, and together they set off in search of these intruders. The scent of dog was heavy in the air as they approached the border, and it wasn't long before the deputy had raised his tail to call the patrol to a halt. Two dogs feasted on the fallen body of a hare, teeth snapping at the poor creature's body and breaking it's bones like twigs. His gaze travelled to his patrol, wondering if the sight scared any of them too much to fight, but he was met with only determination. He prayed that this fight would end swiftly with little to no casualities, and definetly no deaths.
"WindClan, attack!" His voice split through the still air as he hurled himself forward. He could hear the battle cries of his patrolmates as they rushed into battle alongside him, see the fear and alarm flash through the dogs' eyes before they were replaced with a furious rage so raw it seemed like there was no other thought in those eyes but the command to kill. Sootstorm threw himself at the first dog, claws digging into it's body and ripping through skin and fur to bring out blood.
Sootstorm used Jumping Strike on Dog #1, dealing 10(+3)dmg and -7SP
Fidgetpaw filed along behind his father, the lanky apprentice's curled ears pricking at the sound. The moors rustled, gutteral snaps and sounds were getting closer and closer...
Two dogs, shaking a hare to pieces. Before he could even blink, Sootstorm leaped for one dog, in bravery that Fidgetpaw could only hope to have one day.
The lanky apprentice sprang towards the other dog. He noticed the tail, figured it would probably hurt the dog just as much as it hurt him when Crakeburn did it to him as a kit, and so the apprentice locked onto the dog's tail and threw himself forward, yanking the dog's tail with the full force of the leap and his jaws.
Fidgetpaw used Tail Yank for 7 damage, using 15 SP!

Vicious beasts, crunching a hare's bones between their powerful jaws as easily as though they were mere dried leaves underfoot. Oatfluff's eyes widened - never before had he encountered a dog, but this was unmistakeably it. They were just as intimidating as the wolves that had invaded the lake camps, and this time, he would have to fight rather than turn tail and run. He gulped, but his paws stayed rooted to the ground until Sootstorm gave the order to attack. Determination and pure, primal rage burned in his normally soft gaze. He would defend his home with his life, if he had to.
Sootstorm moved as swift and courageously as Oatfluff could've hoped, throwing himself into the throes of battle without a second thought. Behind him, his son leapt at the second dog, and the mottled brown warrior had to admit he was impressed by the apprentice's bravery. Instinct and quick-thinking seemed to guide his paws, though the tom's eyes widened as Fidgetpaw seemed to leave himself open to attacks from the other dog. I won't let that happen. Oatfluff took a deep breath, trying his best not to let adrenaline cloud his thoughts, and threw himself forward at the wretched, stinking beast. Drool spilled from its jaws as its eyes gleamed with malice, glaring down at the patrol of cats with pure vitriol, and Oatfluff's eyes narrowed as he analyzed the dog's movements, looking for an opening.
There. It was risky, but he had to try it. He waited for the dog to focus its attention on Fidgetpaw, throwing its head back in a terrible howl, and hurled himself forward, sliding under the creature and digging his claws into its soft underside - but he was caught mid-slide, the dog hopping away and gnashing its teeth at Oatfluff, its rancid breath hitting him and making him recoil. It caught the corner of his ear with its teeth, beads of blood welling up where its jaws pierced his skin. Fox-dung!
Oatfluff attempted to use Belly Rake! It failed! -5 HP and -25 SP.

The smell of the mouse she was carrying was strong in her nose as Minkshadow brought up the rear of the patrol. She'd split off from the rest of them in pursuit of a field mouse that scurried across her paws, and after catching it, now trailed behind by quite a bit. She never smelled the dogs, and hadn't even gotten close enough to hear them before the others were springing into action. Minkshadow dropped the mouse and sprinted forward, long tail streaming behind her. Oatfluff and Fidgetpaw were fighting one of the dogs, so the young warrior angled her path towards the one that Sootstorm was fighting.
With all the speed and force she could muster, Minkshadow leaped forward and twisted in the air, slamming all four paws into the dog's ribcage in hopes to knock the break out of it. As she turned and hit the ground, the red tabby kicked back again, feeling her paws thump against its ribs again.
Minkshadow used Headbutt and Swift Strike on Dog #1, dealing 10 combined damage at the cost of 15 stamina.
The dogs reminded her of the beasts that chased her from her home. It made her stomach twist with disgust. She knew one thing for sure: they weren't going to chase them away this time.
She joined alongside Minkshadow, swiping at the disgusting canine's side with unsheathed claws - quickly becoming desperate with her blows.
Cloudypetal used Front Paw Strike and Desperate Blows on Dog #1, dealing 13 (8+5) combined damage at the cost of 14 (7+7) stamina.

The second dog snarled, fangs snapping at thin air when it's tail was suddenly yanked from behind. It fell, hitting it's chin on the hard ground with a sharp yelp of pain. It's companion, however, was much faster on it's paws, and lunged forward to clamp it's jaws around one of it's attackers Dog #1 used Iron Bite on Sootstorm, dealing 22(-1)dmg and -30SP Dog #2 is stunned 1/1

Sootstorm was joined by his clanmates, but the feeling of adrenaline was short-lived as fangs crushed upon his body, snapping through flesh in turn. His maw opened in a silent shriek of pain as blood splashed out to stain his pale dappled fur. The deputy wrenched himself away from the beast, batting at the creature with swift paws to ward it off. He managed to stay on his paws, and a quick scan of the clearing revealed that other than him, only Oatfluff was injured, and even then it was but a small wound. Nothing they couldn't handle... yet.

Rapidfire was behind her patrol and was just now catching up. Hearing the yowls of battle made her whispy fur all puffed out and she shakily carried her paws to the top of the hill looking down at the battle below. Her eyes darted as she watched her clanmates all fighting. She darted forward entering the area and ran to Oatfluff's side. She had seen him get hit when he tried a risky move that had failed. "oatfluff!!!" she meowed "are you okay?? you gotta be more careful!" she huffed glaring at the dog.
She clawed out at the dog that had hurt her fluffy friend.
