Hemlockfox led a small patrol of cats out of WindClan's camp, his ears pinned back as a strong gust tore across the moor and whipped around them. He still hadn't gotten used to, well, anything really. It was so bright out here and he felt so exposed all the time. There was hardly anything to take cover behind and virtually nothing that protected them from the elements. Truthfully, he didn't see the appeal to living in this vast emptiness, chasing rabbits all day. He was either being baked by the sun or pelted by rain - it was horrendous, plain and simple.
With a frown, the color point tom scanned the rolling hills and valleys, his tail twitching uncomfortably. He'd been told that there was a place called the lone stump where herbs grew like weeds, but he didn't exactly know how to get there. An overly friendly warrior had said something about it being...ah, yes, over there. Hemlockfox grinned proudly as he spotted a distant hilltop, the telltale stump perched atop its peak. Huh. He supposed it wasn't so bad being able see so much of the territory at once, but he'd still prefer the safety of the forest.
"Alright. I don't want to see anyone messing around. Your herb stores are abysmally disappointing, so let's all focus." Ugh, he would be stuck with two apprentices on his first time gathering herbs here. Would they even be of any use? The warrior seemed mildly more promising, but only because she seemed somewhat capable. That, at least, would help keep his sanity intact. Without another word, Hemlockfox led the way to the lone stump and, before he knew it, was cresting the hill, his nose twitching at the fragrant scent of herbs and flowers all around them. At least it was greenleaf. Replenishing WindClan's stores wouldn't be a total pain.
"Split up but stay in eyesight. If you think you've found something, show me. And for the love of all things do not put any unfamiliar plants in your mouths." He meowed impatiently with a pointed look towards the two apprentices. Turning, the medicine cat scanned the nearby area, trying to pinpoint any familiar leaves or petals among the tall grasses. Green, leafy sprigs caught his eye and, with a please purr, Hemlockfox knelt down beside a yellow, flowering plant. Tansy. Gently, he nipped off a few stalks, careful to leave some behind.
Hemlockfox has found Tansy (+2 bonus)! Dice Rolls are as follows: 1: No herbs found, or a deadly herb is discovered. 2-3: Common herb found (Burnet, Catchweed, Comfrey Root or Dandelions) 4-5: Uncommon herb found (Coneflower, Tansy, or Juniper Berries) 6: Rare herb found (Yarrow or Goldenrod)

[size=36]STOATPAW[/size] Stoatpaw had initially been excited and happy to come out on an herb hunt with their new medicine cat after the disappearance of Daisyfang. He hadn't liked the look of Sootstorm on their few training sessions and was starting to wonder if the deputy was sickly. Not only that, but if they'd gotten sick before Hemlockfox arrived, they would have been stuck alone to weather the storm of illness without the support of a proper medicine cat.
Stoatpaw had wanted to welcome the new cat in with open paws despite the fact that he was from a different Clan, but... Well, Hemlockfox didn't exactly make him feel too excited. Listening to the grouchy tom speak to them like they were helpless and useless, like none of them knew what an herb looked like, like they were... Kits! He moved closer to Cloudypetal and muttered to her quietly. "I don't like him." His tail tip twitched with clear irritation. "He's not going to have any luck fitting in with that uppity SkyClanner attitude."
He sniffed lightly and turned his head, sweeping his gaze around the stump to find herbs to add to their supply. As much as he didn't like their new medicine cat, at least they could agree that their herb storage was pretty pathetic. He brightened when he spotted some familiar plants with little golden fuzzy bulbs sprouting. He'd seen that be used on a warrior once when they'd stepped on a thorn! He bent his head down and nipped at the stems.

Cloudypetal wasn't the biggest fan of Hemlockfox. He felt like the downgrade of Daisyfang - and her heart ached to see the black and white she-cat one more time. She didn't realize, truly, how hard she was taking their medicine cat's disappearance until her mismatched gaze landed on Hemlockfox. "I know what a herb looks like, Hemlockfox. I'll see what I can find." She mewed.
Stoatpaw seemed to agree with her entirely, leaning in and parroting exactly what she was thinking. Not wanting Hemlockfox to overhear, she cast a sad look Stoatpaw's way - and slowly nodded. She gently touched her bushy tail to the tom's shoulder to reassure him. It'll be okay. She silently promised. We'll get through this just like they've got through everything else. She only hoped that he'd bring on an apprentice soon.
Dismissing herself, she quickly found a tall plant with long-toothed leaves. It was goldenrod. Her gaze softened. It smelled just like Daisyfang - slightly sweet and herbal. Not yet in full bloom, just like Daisyfang was yet to be. She left us too soon. The leaves would still be useful, and she picked a couple - leaving the rest of the plant to blossom in Greenleaf. Undoubtedly, we'd need it.
