A heavy sigh escaped Silverdusk as they weaved between the trees, life had to keep moving after the war, and that included hunting. A numbness had settled over them since returning, grief still heavy on them and she supposed the rest of the clan. Normally, she enjoyed doing the tasks being a warrior demanded, it was an honour to serve their beloved ThunderClan, but not anymore. Maybe once the grief was less fresh she'd return to enjoying their chores, but for now the tall molly was resigned to suffer through them.

There was a flash of long legged brown legs, and even in their current state, Silverdusk wasn't one to lose easy prey. It seemed something had beat her to it. Whatever, it'd be good to take their grief out on something. The grey animal snarled at Silverdusk, and she growled back charging at the creature. They slashed at its throat, then reared up and brought their paws down on its skull. It helped to imagine the beast was that Skyclanner, Sunfire or one of his other chums... Come to think of it, the raccoon was just as ugly as they were. Maybe that wasn't fair on the raccoon though...

The raccoon let out a yelp of pain, and scurried off into the underbrush. The silver warrior couldn't find it within herself to care, and so watched it leave with the hare in its jaws. "What a foxing waste." mumbled Silverdusk joining back up with the patrol.

Battles had been fought, lives had been taken, leaders had been replaced. Yet through it all, the world kept turning, and the clan still needed food. The days after the battle had been filled with grief and healing in equal measure, and Lichenwing was no stranger to either, but still it hurt to see his clanmates in such a state. He hadn't wanted to be involved in the fighting, but there was still guilt in the relief he'd felt when his name had not been called to join that battle patrol.

It was the least he could do to hunt, while the others rested... the ones that wanted to rest, anyway. Silverdusk was not among those, and he wasn't surprised... the pale tabby had always been stubborn. Lichenwing kept that opinion to himself, though - he wasn't their parent or their mentor, and if Silverdusk needed to be out, doing things, he understood that. He would just accompany, and be there if she needed to talk.

Spying a couple of bluebirds flitting through the trees, Lichenwing cut off from the patrol and slipped through the brush, trying to figure out where they'd landed. When he finally found them, they were scraping at the dirt near the base of a tree. The warrior crept closer, until they were in springing distance, and then he lashed out. Kicking off from the ground, Lichenwing stretched out a paw as the birds startled into the air, and though one made it free, the tom's claws hooked the other bird's tail, and he pulled it towards him. The bird plummeted to the ground, where Lichenwing met it a second later, ending it. A chattering shriek caught his ear, and Lichenwing bolted back towards where he'd last been with Silverdusk only to see the tail-end of a raccoon fleeing into the brush, and his clanmate returning with a sour look on her face.

"You'll get the next one," he said, offering a smile just before scraping some leaves over the bluebird and continuing forward with the patrol. There was a beat of silence between them, and then Lichenwing's eyes flicked over to theirs. "You doin' alright?"

Silverdusk was content to stare at the dirt, ears doing all the work, but Lichenwing's voice pulled her from their self pity fuelled sulk. She blinked. "I hope." they replied, not meeting his gaze, watching her paws to make sure they avoided stepping on the ground litter. His next question caught them off guard, no one had asked the molly how they were faring since she had returned. Maybe she'd become a bit of a recluse, avoiding camp and turning up only to sleep or join patrols. They were just paranoid, afraid to let any of her clanmates meet the same fate as Mottlestar and Vipershade. The burden of the war, what they had seen and done... They didn't want it to be Lichenwing's too. That wasn't fair, Silverdusk had known what they had been signing up for and had even been begged to retract their name, and they'd still gone. This was their burden. She let out a shaky sigh, blinking slowly and lifting their narrow head. They couldn't lie either. "No, but I will be alright. I do not think anyone is really okay though either, Lichenwing." they answered being honest, but avoiding delving into how awful she truly felt. The smoky tom didn't need to know that it was their fault Mottlestar wasn't here, or when paws became claws and fangs she hadn't been able to take the life of the SkyClanner. What had happened to ThunderClan during the war lay on her shoulders, it was just a a matter of time until those that had returned from the war let it out. She needed the attention gone from her. "What about you Lichenwing, will you be okay?" asked Silverdusk gaze turned on him.
