And there it was. Her head cleared, and finally the energy in her limbs had somewhere to go. Immediately Perchstar lashed out, hooking one leg beneath Beechfang's paws and yanking her legs out from under her. It was her turn to feel the breath leave her lungs completely. The combat began now, and though she'd been forced to take hits for far too long, she would not be caught unawares again.

Stormwatcher hissed as the deputies claws caught him back. He sneered so rage filled. He was not mad at her necessarily, more that this entire thing could have been avoided and that Riverclan refused to let a past event remain in the past.

While talking he noticed a scar on his opponents chest, he would aim for that, perhaps he could reopen an old wound. He did not like how dirty he had to play but his friends lives were at stake and after all; riverclan had asked for this the moment they crossed the river.

He leapt at Poppyshine and sliced with claws out raking at her chest trying to aim specifically for her old wound scar site to inflict any sort of reinjury he could. The sooner he could drop knock her out the sooner he could go help save beechface.

Slashing he aimed his best to slide his claws right down her scar line, whomever had attacked her before had left a nice enough template as to how to deal with this riverclan deputy who was way out of line.

Vipershade snarled once more, the light-coloured Skyclanner grasping the back of his neck and pulling viciously. Claws swiped at the tom behind him but it caught no flesh nor fur, the yank on his neck unlike his tail, gave the older tom pause as it was a more sensitive area with more feeling to it.

The suddenness of a leg being hooked around her own threw Beechfang off balance. Something she should have expected, but the move still left her gasping as she was suddenly fighting to regain her balance rather than focusing completely on Perchstar. A grim baring of her teeth, hardly a smile at all, was the only response the leader would get until Beechfang found her sense of equilibrium, head turning to try and keep the leader within her narrowed field of vision.

Perchstar did not hesitate because her enemy was stunned on the ground; after all, she had just been torn into for the better part of a minute while attempting to regain her own breath. So she lashed out, claws raking into the already-scarred tabby's fur. As many blows as it took to weaken her sufficiently. As many blows as it took to get her in for the kill. The faster she finished Beechfang--the faster she ended the murderer's life--the faster she could assist her Clanmates.

Poppyshine let out a yell when the claws raked down her chest over an old scar. Softfall came to mind before he was quickly forgotten. She looked at Stomwatcher and felt another spike in her heart. Why did all of SkyClan believe that Perchstar wanted to kill them all? She wanted a single cat. Stars, she did not even want Beechfang's life until it was revealed that her exile had been ended without their knowledge or consent. She understood wanting to protect family, but this was the exact opposite of what their neighboring clan preached.

She jumped toward Stormwatcher, dancing around him and latching her teeth onto his scruff. She shook furiously, trying to rid herself of the anger that thrummed through her veins hearing all of these lies about her friends.

When she slipped from Stomwatcher's scruff, she breathed heavily and replied, "Perchstar was content when Beechfang was exiled. She only wants to kill her because your leadership broke the agreement of her exile from a year ago. Perchstar only wants Beechfang. It is Birdstar and Wolfblossom who refuse and insist we must fight as a group if we want justice. If it were up to us, no one else would have been involved."

Perchstar's blows rained down upon like a vicious storm, and Beechfang allowed herself to go limp before surging upwards with a flurry of unsheathed claws. The newly opened wounds in her pelt stung, but it felt... Invigorating, almost. She wasn't going to make it out of this, but she felt... Alive, heart pounding with adrenaline.

Was that it? Had it been so easy? But no--of course not. Beechfang had not truly been defeated, and there was no chance to lean in to bite her throat when a flash of claws exploded upward. Perchstar took the blows, not so much as wincing, but felt one of her paws step backward into cold water. The ebb and flow of their battle had moved them closer to the river's edge. It was poetic, almost, how this fight was taking place where Cloverheart's corpse had floated waterlogged into her nightmares. The scene of the crime would be where the murderer's life ended. Perchstar leaned into the storm of heavy slashes, then used the momentum to shove Beechfang into the water, holding her head under for a moment. The she-cat was larger than her--too large to hold down forever--but hopefully this moment would remind her of the reason they fought, if she'd ever been foolish enough to forget. To remember that she had drowned a medicine cat. A non-combatant. A friend. Now it was her turn to feel helpless. It was her turn to feel what Cloverheart had no doubt experienced before the light left her eyes. If only Perchstar could hold her down here forever. Strength filled her limbs, and she pushed Beechfang's head down hard, claws also piercing flesh beneath them. See how you like it.

Falconmoon might have grinned at seeing Nightstalker clearly struggle to handle the bite to the back of the neck.... if it weren't for the wet warmth spreading across his chest and his belly. That attack on his stomach was a nasty one and its effects could not be ignored. Falconmoon reared back on both legs and came down upon his adversary's head with vicious intent in both clawed forepaws.

The satisfying rush of blood in his mouth, the sound of battle and chaos surrounding him... Sunfire was in his element. Here, there were no apprentices, none of his children... Sunfire's mother, his sister, his mate, they were all home. Nobody here could distract him from his goal, nothing could take his focus.

Sunfire was a large warrior, and Mottlestar was a small leader. It was something he noticed she used to her advantage - but Sunfire didn't intend to allow the she-cat any opportunity to slip away, even if it meant taking blows he likely could have avoided. To her credit, Mottlestar didn't give up the same way Softpaw had - he felt her paw as she contorted around to aim at his eyes, but the tom snarled and gave another snap of his head back and forth, bearing down.
