Subject: What Makes Family [Shatteredsky] Mon 12 Feb 2024 - 11:01
Fresh snow covered the rocky forest as Beechfang led the way from camp, crunching softly under foot. It had stopped some time during the night and the skies had cleared as Wolfblossom assigned the dawn patrols. Shatteredsky was her patrolmate today... One of Falconmoon's kits. He had had a quick apprenticeship and his own apprentice had earned a warrior name just as quickly. The newer generations of Skyclan certainly seemed driven, and Skyclan would need their younger warriors more than ever soon enough.
They had lost cats on the journey home, some lost in the chaos of the wolf attack, others to the snowy mountains. Skyclan still seemed to thrive in spite of it, though the losses weighed on the old she-cat's mind. Paledove, Ambersun and Brackenpaw... Her mind occasionally drifted toward the conversation - argument, if she was being more truthful - she'd had with Shatteredsky's brother. She didn't know Shatteredsky well, but she knew Brackenpaw well enough to be reminded of herself... And wondered just how much the mottled tom walking beside her would match up to the claims or if Brackenpaw's vitriol was misplaced. Falconmoon's sons had certainly proved to be a pawful, but Shatteredsky did not seem to have his brother's explosive, seething anger.
For now, Beechfang had remained silent, offering the younger tom a simple nod in greeting before leading the way out of camp.

I don’t feel sorry for what I have done; I feel sorry for the people who do
Shatteredsky wasn't pleased at all with the idea of joining the old flea-bag on patrol, especially not with her existance the reason why SkyClan was heading for war, which may potentially harm Honeydew. His sister, who had just been made a warrior, still as sweet as when she was a kit, and every bit unprepared for a war. But it was not as if he could walk out on the patrol, and so with an irritated expression he joined Beechfang. He remained silent, intent on not speaking to this poor excuse of a cat, and instead wandered off almost instantly in search of prey. Unfortunately, prey did not wish to greet him, and before long the irritated tom found himself face-to-face with a pair of black eyes.
He didn't wait for it to attack.
A shriek tore through the air as his claws ripped into the fox's face, shredding one of it's eyes and throwing the entire beast backwards while it howled in pain. His claws dug into flesh until he felt bone jut out, and only then did he jump out of the fox's range.
Shatteredsky used Jumping Strike, dealing 8(+3)dmg and -7SP

The other warrior had wasted no time in trying to strike off on his own, and Beechfang sighed quietly to herself. He was anti social and kittish... But this was a patrol and they had not come out here for niceties.
The screech of a fox in pain interrupted her thoughts, and the one-eyed warrior was immediately turning toward it, heavy paws picking up the pace. Of course a fox would be their luck... And Beechfang liked foxes even less than she liked the tom's attitude. Beechfang leaped, using her weight to force the fox to the ground as she raked at russet fur with unsheathed claws.
Beechfang used Leap and Hold for -15 sp, dealing -10 damage. Fox is pinned 1 turn.

Of course Beechfang had to butt in. Shatteredsky bit back several insults and instead focused on the thrashing fox, using the anger he had for the she-cat to sink his claws into it's face, clawing out the eye that would have otherwise been Beechfang's good eye. If he took out her eye and gave it to Perchstar, would that stop the RiverClan leader from attacking SkyClan, or would he have to bring the musty she-cat's ears as well?
Shatteredsky used Front Paw Strike, dealing 8dmg and -7SP

Shatteredsky seemed furious... That fury had been have been aimed toward the foul, red-furred creature that was suffering under their claws and not her. While the fox was in front of them and actively a threat however, Beechfang would not waste her breath in saying anything to the young tom.
Beechfang used Front Paw Strike for -7 sp, dealing -10 damage.

The fox reared it's ugly head, showing it's teeth as it lunged. Fangs sank into a scarred shoulder, crushing bone and flesh under it's jaws. Shatteredsky didn't move as the fox attacked, eyes cold with indifference as he watched from the side. Maybe the fox would kill Beechfang for him, and they wouldn't have to deal with the coming war anymore. Maybe, he could drag her dead corpse to RiverClan and have Perchstar stand down. All for the death of a flea-pelt... it would be worth it, wouldn't it be? Fox used Iron Bite, dealing 17dmg and -30SP Shatteredsky chose not to attack this turn
