Take a Break [Open]

Tigerstar let out an exhausted sigh. Between hunting this morning and then coming back to work on rebuilding their camp the day so far had taken it's toll on him and it was only Sun-High. There was still another half of the day to go. At this point the nursery and Elders den were completely finished. The medicine den was almost done with the rest of the dens just getting started. They needed to take a break. He needed a break. So he was going to take one. At least for a few moments.

The tall striped tom moved to the center of camp, finding one of the flat stones warmed by the sun and settled down, happy to finally start feeling his paws once again. The cold was taking it's toll and the sun was the only way to beat it.

Oakkit had been blessed with a particularly floofy pelt, but even that didn't completely shut out the frigid temperatures of Leaf-Bare. That didn't quell his adventurous spirit however, it only heightened it! Peeking his head out of the nursery much to the dismay of his mother, Oakkit abandoned the fuzzy warmth in favor of the blurry cold that swirled in the world outside. He could hear the queen calling him back in, but she knew that he was impossible to wrangle!

Oakkit stared in awe as the camp swirled with all manner of different colors. Oranges to blacks, greys to whites, browns to yellows! The world was a beautiful place that only he could understand, truly! Rushing out to meet the colorful splotches Oakkit found himself running face-first into more than just a couple of his clanmate's legs. Apologies always followed, but he would be off before they could deliver any kind of rebuke for his blind wandering. After all, there was a much more interesting prize at the end of this gauntlet! The kit finally reached his destination: an interesting silver-grey blob that turned russety rather abruptly. Oakkit couldn't ever recall seeing this in camp before! Curiosity got the better of the kit as he began to ascend the smooth grey blob, but as he got to the russet part his climb stalled. It was squishy like moss, reactive as if it were alive, but made no attempt at pushing him off so... Climbable! Hooking tiny claws into the unsuspecting shape Oakkit scrambled to the top.

"Warm!" The tiny tom squealed as he reached the peak. The blobs had been conquered, and by a kit no less! It just made him want to- "Windlcan!" Came a rather ferocious yell. "I conquered the mountain! Bring me snacks!" Puffing out his chest triumphantly Oakkit beamed as the colors beyond melded and split. They were listening!

Cloudypetal's hazel eyes followed Tigerstar as he settled onto a flat stone in the center of camp. Her whiskers twitched. I feel ya. She couldn't help but empathize - the rebuilding efforts were taking a toll on every cat. She had dedicated a lot of her time to fixing the nursery so that the kits had somewhere warm and safe to stay, at the very least.

She had opted to leave Tigerstar be - the poor tom deserved rest - until Oakkit started his adventurous antics. Her eyes sparkled with as the little kit, in his boundless curiosity and fearless spirit, climbed on top of Tigerstar without hesitation. She released a soft laugh as Oakkit declared his conquest of the poor 'mountain' and called for food. She rose to her paws, padding towards the leader and the rambunctious kit. She had to save him from Oakkit now!

"Looks like we have a mountain-climbing warrior in the making. Are you going to climb to the very top of Highstones?" She mused - a warm smile spread across her face as amusement lingered in her eyes. Poor Tigerstar. She couldn't deny the charm behind Oakkit's liveliness, though. He was a breath of fresh air in the middle of all of the reconstruction and confusion. I wonder what kind of warrior he will grow up to be? "Imagine all the territory there!"

Tigerstar had noticed the kit approaching where he lay, he was expecting the kit to ask him questions but he was surprised to find the kit had begun to climb him. The leader was a bit too tired to bother with telling the kit to get off, so he had let Oakkit do what he had wanted. As long as he didn't have to move. It didn't take long for another warrior to notice the situation and approach. Cloudypetal was coming to his rescue... sort of. "Hopefully he won't have to put those mountain climbing skills to use." The leader stated. "I have climbed enough mountains for a life time, maybe more."
