They were finally back home, and being back home meant that she could properly teach her apprentice how to hunt. They had been chased from the lake not long after the apprentice had been put under her wing, and for all the frustrations that they held in one another, she would at least make due on one promise: Not forcing him to hunt land prey. It was why she had never brought him on a hunting patrol until now, when they had reliable resources to allow fish and toad to once more become their main quarry. She'd prompted him to come follow her, having not particularly revealed what their plans were. Now that they were at the Beech Copse, whose pools had somewhat thinned to nothing but watery puddles thanks to a particular draft of warmth, it would be the perfect location to assess his hunting skills.

"I wish to see where your fishing skills stand, and where you may still need guidance." She finally explained, simply nodding her head towards the river that flowed through the copse. It was the easiest place to learn how to fish given the softer sands and already-existing foliage that hovered over the waters edge.

It had become particularly blood-code to the tortoiseshell at this point that actions spoke louder than words, and it seemed that Scarletpaw had caught onto that fact rather quickly. Watching with a critical eye as he made his catch, she assessed every single portion. While there were pieces she could nitpick on, even the warrior herself knew when it would be a point of simply nitpicking for the sake of saying something where she could be correct. They had already had that literal battle, and his execution was certainly acceptable enough that she would have no issue vouching for his ability to continue to provide sustenance for the clan. Giving him a solid nod, the molly herself then took place by the river a few tail-lengths away. "Good."

Lest her lack of commentary be for naught, as her gaze focused to the water, she found the words to add. "The purpose of this shall pivot, then, to a hunting patrol, as your skills are satisfactory." Just in case he needed it stated. She herself focused on the river, looking for a fish to grab. She herself found one to hook and grab, having to pivot her head to allow her good eye to track its movements as she ended its life on the riverbank, much like her apprentice had just done. If they could bring back about five fish to feed the Clan, she would be more than happy with Scarletpaw's performance.

As the catch her apprentice made caught the corner of her eye, she also didn't miss his request for confirmation as to whether or not they would catch more. Giving him a slight nod, she glanced back to the river just in time to find another fish, her paw darting right for it. Yet again, she found it easy to hook and add it to their pile. It was quickly growing, which was something that was not often done in Leafbare especially.

Glancing to the tom, she nodded towards the waters. "One more, then we shall return. I will alert Perchstar of your hunting prowess, too." She instructed.
