Nectarflower
Rank: T4 Warrior

Returning to their home was a welcome relief to Nectarflower who had been aching for the familiarity of the moorland. Life wasn't the same without Finchspeckle or the other missing cats, but loss wasn't unfamiliar to the tortoiseshell. She had managed to push through it before and would continue to do so now. Though she had hoped to find Finchspeckle on the trip back, Nectarflower had to admit that the odds of that happening were slim. It was hard giving up hope for her kit, but there were plenty of cats still counting on her to remain strong. Admittedly, it sometimes felt like everything was crashing down around her - falling apart at the seams - but that just meant she had to look a little harder for reasons to keep going.

Nectarflower scanned the frosty plains, silently repeating a mantra of good news and details to keep her spirits up. The nursery was bursting with kits. Eveningpaw was alive and healthy. The frosty grass looked beautiful in the sunlight. Sootstorm was a new father again! Even with all of the bad from the past several moons, finding something good to keep her spirits up wasn't too difficult. With a small smile, the warrior trotted downhill, her nose twitching for any trace of prey.

While it was good news that Windclan's nursery was filled with kits, it also meant that there were more mouths to feed. That wasn't usually an issue but, in leafbare, it was a tad harder to provide for everyone. So, on top of her regular patrols, Nectarflower made the decision to go out and hunt whenever she had the free time. Windclan had struggled so much lately - they deserved to be well fed after so much hardship. Movement up ahead caught the she-cat's attention and she swiveled to peer into the nearby grasses. Perfect - a whinchat.

Lowering her body to the peaty soil, Nectarflower delicately placed one paw in front of the other, her ears pinned close to her head, as she crept up on the feathered animal. It had gotten hungry enough to peck among the roots of shallow grasses, likely searching for bugs to eat. A mistake she would do her best to make the most of. Once within pouncing range, the tortoiseshell pushed off with her hind legs, propelling herself toward the bird. However, the wind shifted just in time to alert the bird. Luck wasn't in her favor today, it would seem.

With a squawk of alarm, the whinchat fluttered into the sky, swiftly fleeing from her sharp claws and teeth. Nectarflower puffed a sigh of annoyance and stared as a single feather drifted to the ground - the only thing that remained of the fortunate bird.

(Nectarflower failed to catch a bird. -7 SP)

Nectarflower
Rank: T4 Warrior

Lashing her tail, Nectarflower turned and quietly stalked away, making for an established rabbit burrow out of earshot from her failed hunt. That Starclan-cursed bird had very likely warned every living creature in the area of her presence with that shriek, so she had to travel a bit further if she wanted any hope of catching anything. Rabbits had more meat on them, and she was planning on hunting here regardless, but an extra bird to bring back to the camp would've been nice.

Stepping lightly so as not to warn the rabbits of her approach, Nectarflower snuffled around the area, her nose twitching. Rabbits had acute hearing and were sensitive to vibrations in the soil. If she didn't move carefully, she could very well fail this hunt before it had even begun. Luckily, she quickly picked up on a fresh rabbit trail leading a little ways from the main burrow. At least, as far as she knew. The rabbits could have easily expanded while they were gone.

As she slunk along the small path, the scent grew stronger and stronger until, finally, Nectarflower was nearly upon the long-eared creature. Wiggling her haunches, she inched closer, green eyes locked in on the rabbit. Nibbling on some stalks of grass, it was completely unaware of her presence. It had to be hungry, because even as she neared, it didn't look up or so much as sniff her out. Bundling her hind legs beneath her, the warrior burst out of her hiding place and, with a semi-relieved growl, instantly, closed her claws around the rabbit's shoulders - followed swiftly by her teeth in the back of its neck.

Murmuring a soft thank you to Starclan, she gathered the still warm body in her jaws and hoisted it into the air. After finding a suitable hiding place for the furry creature, Nectarflower made her way back to the farthest reaches of the warren and waited patiently for another rabbit to venture from the safety of its home. If she managed to catch another rabbit (hopefully a plumper one), there would surely be plenty of prey for the kits and queens put together.

Nectarflower
Rank: T4 Warrior

Again, it didn't take long for yet another hungry rabbit to peek its head out from the tunnels below, its nose twitching almost cutely as it searched for any threats. Hunkered down amongst dormant stalks of rye and grasses, Nectarflower was nearly perfectly concealed. Finally, having decided that it was safe to fully emerge, the rabbit loped away from its warren and began snuffling through the undergrowth in search of something to eat. It was the perfect chance.

After waiting until the rabbit had been lulled into a false sense of security, the silky she-cat slowly began to move. Creeping forward silently through the grasses, Nectarflower edged closer to the rabbit with her green eyes trained onto its eyes and ears in case it noticed her. It didn't, however, so she continued towards the oblivious creature, her mouth watering.

Mere moments seemed to pass until she was close enough to give chase. Positioning herself between the rabbit and its burrow, Nectarflower suddenly burst from the cover she had worked hard to maintain. The rabbit kicked off instantly and raced away, its legs churning through fresh snow. Despite its speedy reaction, it hadn't noticed her in time. Nectarflower closed in, her claws unsheathed, and pounced, hooking her claws into the rabbit's hide with ease.

Easily, she sank her teeth into the rabbit's neck and held on until it stopped moving. If she were a larger, stronger cat, she would've continued her hunt, but it was risky to leave her previous catch for too long with Starclan knows how many foxes and predators on the loose. Purring to herself, Nectarflower collected her first rabbit, suddenly glad for its thinner frame - if it was any larger, she might've had trouble carrying it home. Then, with a pleased smile, she trotted back toward the camp, eager to share her success with the clan.
