Lightkit hovered at the entrance to the makeshift nursery, the warmth of the queens inside much more inviting than the bitter chill of white that coated the ground. He was told that it was called "snow", and it was very cold and a little soft. It certainly looked soft, but how could something be cold and soft at the same time? Those seemed like opposites to him. He apparently lingered for far too long, because his mother prodded him forward with a large paw and startled him out of his thoughts. Springing out of the nursery in alarm, his tail bushed out, he landed square on his paws in the snow. Which was much deeper than he expected. It came up nearly to his belly fur, leaving him struggling to move through it.

The queens were right, it was soft and cold. "Wow...!" he breathed, blinking as his voice clouded in the air before his nose. "Wow!" His chest was full to bursting with sudden joy, and he leaped and bounded around in the snowy carpet with a rash of giggles. If only he had someone else to enjoy the snow with!

Scorchlight padded in the snow, leaving paw prints engraved on it. She tiredly turned her eyes towards a kit she wasn’t familiar with. She gave a warm smile to him. RiverClan was slowly and steadily growing in numbers. The kit looked amazed. She followed his eyes to see he was looking at the snow. Even she had never felt it before, but she kind of just accepted how the seasons came and changed. She treaded through the snow, feeling the cold winter weather prick at her fur, snow clinging onto her fur that she quickly brushed off. She had arrived and smiled at the kit. "Hey, little guy," she meowed to him. She remembered when she was a kit, so dumb and clueless all the time. She lightly chuckled. "Having fun? I’m Scorchlight," she meowed. She was about to mention that she was just a new warrior, but she came to the realization that she was not a newer warrior anymore, and she didn’t feel as dumbfounded as before, it felt like she became wiser.

Poppyshine

Poppyshine got a few moments of rest here and there. The clan had settled into a nice rhythm at this point, with everyone knowing their jobs and it helped to keep things moving smoothly. She did not often get a moment to just sit out in the snow and let the cold drift cool her overworked paws.

She looked over towards a tiny, excitable voice and smiled when she saw little Lightkit moving around in it. His first day out in the snow, it seemed. She walked up a little after Scorchlight an purred, “Having fun out here? I’ll bet Scorchlight would love to play in the snow with you.” Poppyshine looked at the warrior with a smile, silently promising that she would have the time to play instead of being shuffled off.
